The stereo was in an unlocked room unattended at the time of the theft. On 04/04/05, the staff member contacted police and advised that the stolen property had been found in Moody Coliseum. 050515 2:03 PM: Off Campus Criminal Incident (Disorderly Conduct): An SMU alumnus reported three men (believed to be SMU students) made offensive comments and displayed obscene gestures toward her as she drove in her vehicle on Lovers Lane. 050520 4:25 AM: Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Loud Noise Complaint: Officers responded to Morrison Hall to investigate a loud noise complaint. Five students were having a party on the 1st floor in a student's room. All five are underage and had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Two were cited and all five will be referred to the Judicial Officer. Court/Judicial Referral.

050524 10:07 AM: Criminal Mischief: A staff member was observed damaging a gate arm in the Owens Lot. He was reported to his supervisor and restitution for damages will be made. Closed.

050525 4:17 AM: Criminal Trespass: A known man was seen entering Hawk Hall after he had received a Criminal Trespass Warning for the SMU campus. Officers responded, but when the man saw police he fled the area. Open.
050526 5:26 PM: Failure to Leave Identification (at scene of accident): A staff member reported that someone damaged her vehicle while parked in the 3000 block of SMU Boulevard. The unknown suspect driver left the scene and failed to provide identifying information. Closed.
050527 11:42 PM: Criminal Trespass Warning: Officers identified a man in the Dedman 3 parking lot. The man was observed walking through the lot looking inside parked vehicles. He had tools in his possession that are often used to burglarize vehicles. He has an extensive criminal record. However, he had not committed a criminal act on campus. 050528 12:05 AM: Fire Alarm: Officers and UPFD responded to a fire alarm at the Phi Gamma Delta house. A smoke detector on the second floor activated. No cause for the alarm could be determined. Closed.

050538 11:45 PM: Fire Alarm: Officers responded to the Meadows Museum to investigate a fire alarm. A cleaning crew set off the alarm when equipment raised a cloud of dust. Closed.

050539 12:37 AM: Theft Class B ($50-$499): A student reported someone stole some of her clothes that she was washing in the basement laundry room in Morrison Hall. She later reported the clothes had been returned. The student did not know who took or returned the clothes. Unfounded.
050540 1:36 AM: Consumption of Alcohol by Minor: Four underage students were screaming in the parking lot near the Owens Fine Arts Center. Some of them ran when officers approached them. Officers caught them all. They had been drinking alcoholic beverages. Judicial Referral.
050541 8:24 AM: Criminal Mischief: A staff member reported that someone damaged a concrete border at the northwest corner of Mary Hay Hall. The concrete had been poured on Apr 7, 2005 at 5:00PM. Damages occurred between then and April 8, 2005, 8:00 AM. Open.
050542 10:40 AM: Off Campus-Criminal Incident: Hit and Run: UP police reported that a person, suspected to be a student, was involved in a hit and run accident on Central Expressway. The vehicle was located by SMU PD in the Meadows Garage. Dallas PD responded and interviewed the suspect. The suspect is not affiliated with the university. He will be charged by DPD with the criminal offense. Closed.

050546 2:50 AM: Driving Under the Influence/Consumption/Possession by Minor: Officers identified a student during a traffic stop for driving in a reckless manner on Dyer Street. The driver and passenger are under the age of 21 and both had been drinking alcoholic beverages. There was also beer in the vehicle. The driver was cited for DUI Minor and Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. The passenger was cited for Consumption of Alcohol by a minor. Judicial Referral.
050547 5:52 AM: Criminal Mischief/Disturbance/Welfare Check on Person: Officers responded to Boaz Hall to check on a disturbance caused by a student. Investigation revealed that the student had caused some damage in his room. Judicial Referral.
050548 6:46 AM: Possession of Fictitious License or ID: A security employee working at a Deep Ellum night club, turned over five counterfeit drivers licenses to the SMU PD. He confiscated them from SMU students who are under 21 years of age. Judicial Referral.

050550 12:45 PM: Evading Arrest or Detention: Officers were called to the SMU Bookstore to check on a non-affiliated man who is suspected of shoplifting textbooks in the SMU bookstore as well as other college bookstores in the area. When officers arrived, the man fled on foot running south across Mockingbird Lane and eluded the officers behind a group of businesses. Highland Park and UPPD assisted with searching for the man. His car was located and impounded. A warrant for his arrest will be issued. Open.

After reviewing security tapes it was determined the student did not bring the laptop into the library. He now thinks he might have left the computer on a bench outside the library and it was taken from there. Open.

050592 10:08 PM: Consumption/Possession of Alcohol by Minor/Possession Drug Paraphernalia/Criminal Trespass Warning: Officers were conducting a residence hall check at Boaz Hall. While conducting the check they observed a can of beer in a student's room. The student was under the age of 21 and said the beer was not his. A non-affiliated underage man accepted responsibility for the beer. Officers located eight more beers in the student's refrigerator. They also found drug paraphernalia on the non-affiliated man. The non-affiliated man was issued a citation, a criminal trespass warning and escorted off campus. Judicial Referral.

050604 2:31 AM: Poss. of Substance in Penalty Group 2-Ritalin/Public Intoxication/Failure to Identify/Possession of Fictitious License or ID: Two non-affiliated women were arrested for Public Intoxication in the 3000 block of SMU Boulevard. One of the women failed to identify herself to officers. The other woman had a counterfeit ID in her possession and was also illegally in possession of the prescription drug Ritalin. The women were transported to UP Jail. Closed.
050605 8:46 AM: Graffiti: Officers found that someone had written profanities on a students car parked in the Theology parking lot. The student was notified and officers removed the writing. Closed.
050606 9:06 AM: Suspicious Person: A student reported that a man was driving on Bishop Blvd. and appeared to be acting unusual. Officers located the vehicle and identified the driver as a student. Judicial Referral.

050612 12:01 AM: Consumption of Alcohol by Minor/Possession of Fictitious ID: Officers stopped a student that was observed drinking alcohol in public. The student is under the age of 21 and had a fake ID. Judicial Referral.
050613 1:03 AM: Assist Other Agency: The communications officer observed a man in the bed of a pickup truck on the police department's CCTV system. Officers checked the man, found that it was his truck and the man had current warrants issued by the city of Highland Park. The man works for an SMU contractor. He was arrested and turned over to Highland Park DPS. Closed.
050614 2:16 AM: Alcohol Policy Violation: Officers conducted a check of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) house when they observed and heard a group of people in the backyard. During the check officers saw two students drinking beer in the common area of the house. Judicial Referral.

050631 2:30 AM: Off Campus-Criminal Incident (Possession of Fictitious License or ID): Club security staff from an off campus club in Dallas turned in three fake ID's presented to them at the club by SMU students. Judicial Referral.

050636 4:15 AM: Assault/Unlawful Restraint/Interference with Emergency Telephone Call: Officers responded to a 911 call in the University Garden's Apartments regarding a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed a non-affiliated man assaulted his girlfriend and prevented her from calling 911. The man was not present when police arrived. The woman does not wish to pursue criminal charges. Closed.
050637 7:00 PM: Criminal Trespass/Criminal Mischief/Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at the Pi Kappa Alpha house. A large group of people, who were not authorized to be in the house, had gathered in the chapter room. When asked to leave the house, several of the men shouted profanities and refused to leave. Officers identified four students. One of the students slammed a door against the wall causing damage. The men were removed from the house. Judicial Referral.

050639 12:19 AM: Suspicious Person: A student reported that a man driving a silver or gray Mercedes followed her to campus. The student first noticed the man driving slowly through the parking lot at the 24-hour Fitness located at I-75 and Royal Lane. Once on campus, the student immediately drove to the police department parking lot and reported the incident. Patrol units searched the campus for the vehicle with negative results. Closed.
