April 1

010558 12:48 AM: SMU Police received a complaint of a loud party at 3130 Daniel Avenue. Officers found several different parties occurring. The residents of the apartments were informed of the complaints and controlled the noise. Closed.

010559 1:44 AM: A loud music complaint was received from 2802 Binkley. An officer made contact with the resident and the music was turned down. Closed.

010560 3:14 AM: Two non-affiliated men were identified at the Phi Gamma Delta house when they attempted to gain access to the house. They told officers they were attempting to video the students for a documentary they were producing about college life. They did not have permission to film on campus and were issued a Criminal Trespass Warning. Public Affairs was notified. Closed.

010561 3:55 AM: Two men were observed urinating in public between Engineering Labs 2 and 3. Both are students and are under 21 years of age. One student had alcohol on his breath and displayed a fake Oklahoma Driver's License. Referred to the Judicial Officer for action. Closed.

010562 3:49 AM: SMU Police received a complaint about several people knocking over trashcans and making noise by Boaz Hall. Six students were identified in front of Boaz Hall. One student was under 21 years of age and had alcohol on his breath. No one claimed responsibility for the disturbance. They were all referred to the Judicial Officer for action. Closed.

010563 3:02 PM: SMU Police found graffiti painted on both sides of a SMU utility van parked in the Patterson Lot. Open.

010564 2:57 PM: A student reported someone replaced her bicycle seat with an older seat while it was secured in the bike room at McElvaney Hall. Open.

010565 5:17 PM: Two students reported their vehicles damaged while they were parked in front of the Pi Kappa Alpha house. It appeared that someone threw something at the windshields, causing them to crack. Open.

010566 8:32 PM: Two non-affiliated subjects stopped a SMU officer to report a minor accident that occurred on I-635. DPD was called to the scene to make a report. Closed.

010567 10:21 PM: SMU Police was contacted by UPFD in reference they received about the smell of gas at 2916 Binkley. UPFD responded and found the smell was due to a pilot light that went out. Closed.


April 2

010568 2:14 AM: SMU Police found the fire panel in McElvaney in trouble mode. No cause for the trouble was found. Closed.

010569 4:50 AM: A staff member reported having a minor traffic collision in the Commuter Lot. The staff member collided with a light pole. No injuries occurred. Closed.

010570 10:22 AM: A student was reported stuck in the elevator at Morrison Hall. The elevator technician arrived and released the student unharmed. Closed.

010571 1:40 PM: A staff member and his wife reported they were involved in a traffic collision at SMU Blvd and Central. DPD was called to respond to the collision scene. The staff member and his wife were transported to Baylor Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Closed.

010572 3:01 PM: A staff member reported the theft of a VCR from a classroom in Dedman Center. Open.

010573 6:00 PM: A student reported an altercation, which happened off-campus, with another student. The report was made just for information purposes. Closed.

010574 9:48 PM: A trouble signal was received from the fire alarm system at Meadows Museum. No cause for the alarm was found. Closed.

010576 12:02 AM: A trouble signal was received from the fire alarm at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house. No cause for the alarm was found. The UPFD Fire Chief told the members of the house they would be responsible for conducting a fire watch until the alarm could be repaired. Closed.

010577 1:36 AM: A trouble signal was received from the fire alarm at McGinnis Hall. The panel indicated a basement detector near the laundry room was in trouble mode. No cause for the signal was found. Closed.

010578 9:34 AM: A staff member reported that an non-affiliated person fell last week at the Faculty Club, but refused medical treatment at the time and stated she was not injured. This week, the non-affiliated person stated she chipped a tooth during the incident. Closed.

010579 9:38 AM: A fire alarm was received from the Gamma Phi Beta house. A service technician was working on the system and accidentally activated the system. Closed.

010580 12:56 PM: Two students were involved in a minor traffic collision in the 6500 block of Durham Street. UPPD responded and worked the scene. Closed.

010581 4:50 PM: A staff member reported the high water alarm in the Crow Building activated. Several inches of water were found in the utility closet. Physical Plant was contacted to fix the pumps. Closed.

010582 5:02 PM: A woman reported a man had exposed himself to her in the area of Frat Row and Binkley Avenue. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. He was reported to be driving an older model black Volvo. The man was described as being a white male in his late twenties or early thirties. Open.

010583 6:42 PM: A trouble signal was received from the fire alarm at McGinnis Hall. The panel indicated the same basement detector near the laundry room as the signal received at 1:36 AM this date. No cause for the alarm was found again. Closed.

010584 7:55 PM: A staff member and a student were involved in a minor traffic collision in the South Quad Lot. They exchanged information and left the scene. Closed.

010585 9:47 PM: A sick student was reported in Boaz Hall. The student's father arrived and transported him to Presbyterian Hospital. Closed.

010586 11:24 PM: A trouble signal was received from the alarm system at Bridwell Library. No messages were shown on the panel. No cause for the signal was determined. Closed.


April 4

010587 3:10 AM: A student, living in Shuttles Hall, reported receiving several harassing phone calls. The student received several calls from the call box in front of the residence hall. The caller said he was delivering food from a restaurant and used profanity when she indicated she had not ordered any food. Closed.

010588 4:43 AM: SMU Police discovered graffiti painted on the fifth level of the Airline Garage. Open.

010589 1:59 PM: A student reported the theft of her purse and cellular phone from Owens Fine Arts Center. Open.

010590 7:11 PM: A man was reported ill in the Meadows Museum. UPFD EMS responded and transported him to Baylor Medical Center. Closed.

010591 12:25 AM: Officers checked a trouble alarm at the Bridwell Library. No cause was determined. Closed.

010592 1:02 AM: Officers checked a trouble alarm at the Meadows Museum. No cause was determined. Closed.

010593 3:00 AM: An officer drove by the Kappa Sigma House and observed fifteen to twenty people in the front lobby and in the courtyard. The house members were instructed to disperse the crowd and hold the noise down. Closed.


April 6

010594 12:22 AM: A man was observed in the Caruth Lot placing handbills on vehicles. He was instructed to leave the campus. The officer issued a Criminal Trespass Warning to the man. Closed.

010595 2:53 AM: The fire alarm activated at the SAE House. The alarm was believed to be caused by a faulty 2nd floor smoke detector. Closed.

010596 3:27 AM: Officers and UPFD responded to Mary Hay Hall after someone activated a fire alarm pull station on the east side of the residence hall. The alarm was malicious. Closed.

010597 3:30 AM: Officers investigated a traffic accident and verbal altercation between students which occurred in the south quad near the Barr Pool. Open.

010598 4:44 AM: An officer contacted an intoxicated student outside of Mary Hay Hall. He is 19 and will be referred to the judicial officer for Minor Consumption of Alcohol. Closed.

010599 5:08 AM: Officers responded to a complaint that a man was in Boaz Hall knocking on doors. Contact was made with a drunken student after he had just turned over a garbage can in the hallway. He will be referred to the judicial officer for Minor Consumption of Alcohol and Disorderly Conduct. Closed.

010600 5:55 AM: A student was identified during a traffic stop on Binkley Ave. He had been drinking and was driving on a suspended driver's license. He was arrested and booked into the U.P. Jail. Closed.

010601 9:33 AM: SMU Police stopped a vehicle in the West Quad Lot. The driver of the vehicle had an outstanding traffic warrant active for his arrest. The subject was arrested and transported to HP City Jail. Referred to Highland Park City Court of the warrant and the Judicial Officer for review. Closed.

010602 9:27 AM: A student reported an Indecent Exposure in the alley behind 3115 University. The subject left the area before officers arrived. Open.

010603 2:13 PM: A student reported someone damaged his vehicle while it was parked in the Moody Parking Garage. The driver's side mirror was found broken. Open.

010604 2:18 PM: SMU Police responded to a report of Criminal Mischief at the Haggar Tennis Stadium. Someone pushed over a large trashcan containing blue paint on one of the courts. The paint was left over from repairs made last week. Open.

100605 2:24 PM: A staff member was injured at Fondren Science when she tripped and fell. UPFD EMS responded and treated her for a cut on the head. The staff member elected to have a coworker take her to a doctor for treatment. Closed.

010606 2:47 PM: A student reported someone puncturing a tire on his vehicle while it was parked in the Moody Garage. Open.

010607 3:17 PM: A staff member reported the theft of a computer-processing chip from a computer located in the basement of the Science Information Center. Open.

010608 8:06 PM: A non-affiliated subject reported falling at McFarlin Auditorium. The subject declined medical attention. Closed.


April 7

010609 2:40 AM: SMU Police responded to a loud music complaint at 2988 Binkley. The resident was told of the complaint and turned the music down. Referred to the Judicial Officer for review. Closed.

010610 3:45 AM: Two students, under 21 years old, were observed in the Pi Kappa Alpha house in possession of alcohol. They were cited for MIP and referred to UP City Court and the Judicial Officer. Closed.

010611 1:13 PM: Several complaints about loud music were received from the area of Ford Stadium. Music was being played over the PA system before the start of a scrimmage. Closed.

010612 2:54 PM: A trouble signal was received from the Bridwell Library fire alarm. No cause for the signal was found. Closed.

010613 6:06 PM: A trouble signal was received from the Patterson Hall fire alarm. No cause for the signal was found. Closed.


April 8

010614 3:32 AM: Officers received a loud noise complaint from neighbors living near the Kappa Sigma house. Officers arrived and found about 20 to 25 people standing in the courtyard. The group was dispersed. Closed.

010615 4:09 AM: An officer was conducting a security walk through Boaz Hall. He heard a loud noise on the east end of the third floor. He arrived and observed a male student with a fire extinguisher. Several other men were also identified. The fire extinguisher was a "water type" unit. The other men were wet but claimed they got that way for other reasons. They will be referred to the judicial hearing board for action. Closed.

010616 5:03 AM: A student set off his room smoke detector after he was smoking in the room. Judicial Officer action is pending. Closed.

010618 9:08 PM: An officer observed a red VW Beetle run the stop sign at Binkley and Ownby, then enter the Boaz Lot by running under the gate arm and forcing it up. The driver was contacted and identified as a non-affiliated man who was visiting a student. The gate arm appeared to be operating slower after the impact. The student will be charged for any damages associated with the incident. Closed.

010619 6:45 PM: A student removed a vehicle immobilizing boot from his car and left it in the lobby of the police department. A check revealed the identity of the student who was contacted. He will be referred to the judicial officer for actions and payment of fines. His car was later relocated and another boot was put on. Closed.


April 9

010620 2:17 AM: Officers answered a noise complaint on the first floor of Peyton Hall. The occupants were instructed to keep their music volume turned down. Closed.

010621 11:30 AM: A visiting student reported someone stole her flute, carrying case and metronome from the Bob Hope Theater. Open.

010622 3:49 PM: A student reported someone stole his Sony VAIO portable computer from a study room in the Fincher Building. He related he left the computer in the room unattended for a short while. Open.


April 10

010623 12:14 AM: Officers investigated a fire system trouble alarm inside Moody Coliseum. The alarm was acknowledged and the panel remained in normal mode. Closed.

010624 12:34 AM: An officer checked Bridwell Library after a fire system trouble alarm was received. No cause was determined. Closed.

010625 1:30 AM: Officers responded to an intrusion alarm at the Chi Omega house. Someone entered and did not properly shut the door. Closed.

010626 5:44 AM: Fire system trouble alarm at the Heroy Building. No cause was determined. Closed.

010627 9:20 AM: A student reported someone vandalized his vehicle which was parked in front of the SMU Serivces House. Someone scratched a derogatory slur in the driver's side door. The incident is being investigated as a hate related crime. Open.

010628 5:40 PM: Officers investigated a fire trouble signal at the Heroy Bldg. No cause was found. Closed.

010629 9:30 PM: A student requested medical transport to the hospital due to an illness. U.P. EMS responded. Closed.

010630 11:16 PM: Officers responded again to the Heroy Bldg for a fire trouble signal. No cause was determined. Fire safety was notified of the malfunction. Closed.


April 11

010631 1:19 AM: Two students were identified after they parked their vehicle illegally in front of the FIJI house and ignored an officer's warning to move it. The men walked away from the officer so she wrote a citation and placed it on the car. One of the men shouted an obscenity to the officer, grabbed the ticket and refused to identify himself to the officer when she asked for his driver's license. The man ran inside the house. The officer entered the house, found the man, and identified him. He has been referred to the judicial officer for "Failure to Identify himself to a University Police Officer." Closed.

010632 12:24 AM: The intrusion alarm was activated by mistake at the DeGolyer Library. A staff member entered a room before turning off the alarm. Closed.

010633 11:42 AM: A student became ill and requested EMS respond. He was examined by paramedics but not transported. Closed.

010634 3:22 PM: The east elevator stalled in Cockrell Hall trapping a staff member inside. He was released by an elevator technician. Closed.

010635 8:24 PM: SMU PD requested that U.P.P.D. conduct a welfare check on a student who lived off campus. She was located and found to be ok. A friend of the student contacted this department and related he was worried about her. Closed.

010636 11:20 PM: An officer checked the AKA house after the department received a trouble signal with the fire alarm system. No cause was determined. Closed.

010637 11:45 PM: An officer checked the Perkins Natatorium and found the front door was unlocked. He walked inside and found four students swimming in the pool. They were told to leave the building since it was supposed to be closed Closed.


April 12

010638 12:28 AM: Officers responded to Shuttles Hall and checked on a student who had become ill. He told them he did not need to have EMS respond. A friend was with him. Closed.

010639 12:51 AM: An officer found two rolls of toilet paper that had been set on fire in the driveway south of Cockrell Hall. Fire safety was notified. Closed.

010640 2:31 AM: Fire alarm trouble signal received from Ford Stadium. The panel indicated an MDM voice module output. Fire safety was notified. Closed.


April 13

010641 12:04 AM: Fire Alarm trouble signal received from the Maguire Building. System would not reset. Fire safety notified. Closed.

010642 1:10 AM: An officer assisted an engineering student with entering Caruth Hall. Closed.

010643 1:43 AM: An officer found several students swimming in the Barr Pool. They had been drinking and are under 21. The students were identified and referred to the Judicial Officer for Minor Consumption of Alcohol and trespassing. Closed.

010644 12:27 PM: Someone threw a plastic bottle full of water through a window at the Sigma Chi house. The window was shattered. Closed.


April 14

010645 2:10 AM: A juvenile male was identified after he was observed urinating in public in the 3000 block of SMU Blvd. He was also in possession of beer. The officer contacted his father. Closed.

010646 12:17 Am: Fire alarm trouble signal received from the AKA house. The cause was weather related. Closed.

010647 8:56 PM: An immobilizing boot was removed from the car of a non-affiliated individual. A check revealed the identity of the owner who was contacted. The boot had been removed by her friend. The boot was dropped off in front of McFarlin Auditorium by an unknown person. Closed.

010648 9:54 PM: An officer observed thee men standing near the Dedman Science Building Construction area. When they spotted the officer, they fled and ran into the the Fondren Science Building. The officer observed a vehicle parked nearby and waited by it as the suspects soon returned to their car. The men are all 19 years old and are not affiliated with the university. They were held until their parents responded to pick them up. They were issued criminal trespass warnings. Closed.

April 15

010649 12:06 AM: An SMU student was involved in a vehicle accident at the intersection of Mockingbird and Bishop. Highland Park PD responded to work the investigation. Closed.

010650 3:37 AM: The brother of a Kappa Sig member was observed damaging a parked vehicle in front of the house. The suspect is not affiliated and was also intoxicated. He was arrested and booked into the U.P. Jail. He was also issued a criminal trespass warning. Closed.

010651 2:51 PM: A student reported her car had been stolen from the Caruth Lot. It was later determined her room mate had moved the car. Closed.

010652 11:13 PM: A student reported that she believe someone had used her car without her permission sometime over the weekend. She has no suspects. Closed


April 16

010653 9:44 AM: A campus maintenance supervisor reported someone spray painted graffiti on the brick wall outside of a university owned apartment. Open.

010654 6:34 PM: Fire system trouble alarm was received from the Alpha Psi Lambda house. A repair company indicated problems with the telephone lines caused the problem. Closed.

010655 9:21 PM: The elevator in Cockrell Hall stalled trapping several students inside. An officer arrived, however the students had opened the door halfway and climb out. The elevator was placed out of service. Closed.

010656 11:40 PM: The fire alarm system activated at Ford Stadium. The origin of the alarm was the lower level of Area B. A faulty smoke detector activated. Closed.


April 17

010657 3:47 PM: A student reported being assaulted in the Southwest stairwell of the Moody Parking Garage. The assailant is a white male, mid 20's with dirty blond hair, a darker colored goatee/mustache and has a thin build. She was able to escape the man without being injured. However, a delay in reporting the incident to police, prevented a timely response to search for the suspect. Open.

010658 8:44 PM: A student attempted to deceive the police after his car was booted for parking in the Moody Garage visitor area. The student had previously lied to parking control personnel about a ticket he received for parking in the visitor’s only area. On this occasion, he also lied to the dispatcher and told him he was a visitor and was legally parked. A check revealed he is a registered student who had not paid for a parking decal. He was fined and will be referred to the judicial board for failure to properly identify himself to the University Police.

010659 9:38 PM: Two students were reported stuck in the elevator at Cockrell Hall. The elevator technician was contacted to release the students. Closed.


April 18

010660 12:23 AM: A student accidentally set off the intrusion alarm at the Chi Omega house. Closed.

010661 11:57 AM: Officers investigated a vehicle accident occurring in the service drive between Hughes Trigg and Patterson Hall. An armored truck collided with a car being driven by a non-affiliated man. No injuries were reported. Closed.

010662 2:15 PM: A student reported her jeep was burglarized while parked in the South Quad Lot. The dash was torn out and the stereo was stolen. Open.

010663 2:44 PM: A staff member in the Memorial Health Center reported the theft of a camera and portable radio from a locked cabinet. Open.

010665 2:58 PM: An Aramark employee became stuck inside the Moore Hall elevator after it stalled. An elevator technician responded to release him. Closed.

010666 6:30 PM: A student removed a vehicle immobilizing boot from his car. A check revealed the identity of the student. His father was contacted and advised the investigating officer he would tell his son to return the boot. The student will be referred to the judicial officer for payment of fines and penalties for removing the boot. Closed.

010667 7:04 PM: Officers responded to a gas leak at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house. Someone left the oven on inside the house. Maintenance was notified. Closed.

010668 6:56 PM: A student reported her car had been burglarized while parked in the South Quad lot. The radio and a case of CDs were stolen. Open.

010669 11:40 PM: Officers responded to a loud noise complaint at 2921 Binkley Ave. The occupants were told to turn down their music. Closed.


April 19

010670 12:22 AM: Officers checked a fire system trouble alarm at the Chi Omega house. No cause was determined. Closed.

010671 10:50 AM: Dining Services reported a missing "Gator" ATV. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Mockingbird Station DART terminal. A suspect has been identified. Closed.

010672 4:16 PM: A student reported that she was stuck in a stalled elevator inside Cockrell Hall. An Otis Elevator technician responded and released her. Closed.

010673 9:34 PM: A student reported someone hit his truck while parked in the Moody Garage. The suspect driver did not leave the required information, however, she has been identified and is a student. She denied striking the complainant's truck. The suspect will be referred to the Judicial Board. Closed.

010674 9:58 PM: Someone sprayed a soft drink at a smoke detector on the 3rd floor of McElvaney Hall. The incident activated the building fire alarm system. Fire safety was notified. Closed.

010675 11:21 PM: A motorist reported that a man and woman were having a heated argument in front of McIntosh Hall. The two were identified as students. They indicated the argument was over and left without incident. Closed.


April 20

010676 12:10 AM: A staff member reported steam coming from a broken pipe in the Bradfield Computer Center. Maintenance was notified. Closed.

010677 9:28 AM: The fire alarm sounded at Fondren Library. Worker in the basement set off a smoke detector while using a cutting torch. Closed.

010678 1:45 PM: Two students were reported in a minor traffic accident in the 5900 block of Bishop Blvd. No injuries were reported. Closed.

010679 2:45 PM: Report of an injured non-affiliated person in Moody Coliseum. A rolling rack of chairs ran over the person's foot. Medical attention was declined. Closed.

010680 4:45 PM: A student reported his bicycle was stolen from the bike rack on the west side of Hughes Trigg Student Center. Open.

010681 8:56 PM: A non-affiliated person was reported sick at Moody Coliseum. The person was feeling nauseous, but refused transport by UPFD EMS. Closed.

010682 11:41 PM: The fire alarm at Ford Stadium activated numerous times throughout the night. Closed.


April 21

010683 12:21 AM: A trouble signal was received from the fire alarm at McElvaney Hall. The panel indicated problems with the third floor power supply. Closed.

010684 1:20 AM: The exit gate arm at the Airline Garage was found to be malfunctioning. Power was cut off. Closed.

010685 8:12 AM: A trouble alarm was reported at Hamon Arts Library. No cause for the signal was found. Closed.

010686 9:31 AM: A girl was reported having a seizure at Moody Coliseum. UPFD EMS paramedic was on the scene and no transport was done. Closed.

010687 8:46 PM: A student was reported stuck in the elevator at Moore Hall. The student was later released without injury. Closed.


April 22

010688 12:37 AM: The fire alarm at Ford Stadium sounded. The steam that normally sets off the alarm was determined to be the cause. The alarm sounded nine additional times until 3:57 AM. Closed.

010689 12:23 AM: SMU Police was called to perform a welfare check of a faculty member in Storey Hall. The faculty member was not found in his office or in Storey Hall. Closed.

010690 2:27 AM: A verbal confrontation was reported in the area of Boaz Hall. A student was identified and had been drinking alcohol. The other person the student was arguing with already left the area. Referred to the Judicial Officer for review. Closed.

010691 4:16 PM: A student reported his vehicle burglarized while it was parked in the Dedman 3 Parking Lot. Open.

010692 7:32 PM: The fire alarm was activated at the Panhellenic house. A short in the freezer caused a small electrical fire and smoke. No other damage was reported. Closed.

010693 7:47 PM: A student reported receiving harassing phone calls from another student. Referred to the Judicial Officer for review. Open.

010694 8:19 PM: A student reported receiving harassing phone calls from several other students. Referred to the Judicial Officer for review. Open.

010695 11:01 PM: A student reported receiving a harassing phone call from a unknown man who stated he was conducting a survey. The conversation turned to sexually oriented topics and she hung up on him. Open.


April 23

010696 7:30 AM: A staff member reported she was having chest pains. EMS responded to McElvaney Hall where she worked and transported her to Parkland Hospital. Closed.

010697 8:05 AM: Officers and UPFD responded to the Kappa Alpha Theta house after the fire alarm activated. No cause was determined. Fire Safety was notified. Closed.

010698 9:55 AM: Officers and UP EMS responded after a student was sick and incoherent at Umprhrey Lee . He was transported to Presbyterian Hospital. Closed.

010699 10:58 AM: A man was identified near the Hughes Trigg Center after he was spotted handing out fliers. The officer explained the University policy forbidden such acts and he was issued a criminal trespass warning. Although he was argumentative, he left without incident. Closed.

010700 1:39 PM: A student, living in the PIKE house reported someone entered his unlocked room and stole his cellular telephone. Closed.

010701 2:25 PM: Officers responded to a theft report at Storey Hall. A laptop computer was removed from an office. Open.

010702 4:58 PM: A student reported that someone scratched her car while it was parked in the South Quad Lot. Closed.

010703 5:50 PM: A man who had been identified earlier near Hughes Trigg, was observed distributing fliers in the Sorority Row Lot. The man had been issued a criminal trespass warning, so he was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespassing on the campus. Closed.

010704 8:39 PM: Officers investigated a fire alarm at 3108 Fondren Drive. No cause for the alarm was determined.

010705 9:08 PM: The OFAC building manager reported the card reader for the parking lot fell over and damaged a vehicle. No information was available as to the ownership of the car. Closed.


April 24

010706 12:01 AM: Officers responded to a loud noise complaint at 2980 Binkley Ave. Occupants of the apartment were talking loudly outside in the hallway. Closed.

010707 2:31 PM: A woman was identified after she walked into the Parking Control office and began to make strange statements about who she was and what she was doing on campus. The woman made unusual comments about former President Bush who was due to arrive on campus within the hour. She was interview by SMU PD investigators and the Secret Service. She was released and departed campus after being issued a criminal trespass warning. Closed.

010708 2:30 PM: A student became stuck in the Moore Hall elevator after it stalled. She was later released. Closed.

010709 3:31 PM: A student reported someone shattered the driver’s side door window on her truck. The vehicle was parked in the West Quad Lot. Open.

010710 4:21 PM: A student reported some damaged the paint finish on his car by "keying" the driver’s side door. The vehicle was parked in the Moody Garage. Open.

010711 11:01 PM: Officers are investigating the unauthorized removal of a vehicle immobilizing boot. Open.

010712 11:18 PM: A student reported she was parking in the 6100 block of Frat Row when a man ran up to her car shouting that he was a police officer and that she had committed numerous traffic violations. The man had no credential or badge and the student also thought he was being deceptive. She immediately left the lot and drove to the police department where she informed an officer about the man. Officers received a description of the man and his car from the student and found him driving east on Binkley Ave. He was stopped and positively identified. The man was arrested and charged with impersonating a public servant. He was booked into the U.P. Jail. Closed.


April 25

010713 1:11 AM: Officers responded to a fire alarm at the Lambda Chi Alpha house. No cause was determined. Closed.

010714 7:14 PM: A student reported his vehicle had been damaged while parked near the Intramural Field. The front windshield had been broken. Closed.

010715 10:12 PM: A R/A in Mary Hay Hall reported a student was smoking marijuana in his room. The student produced a tin box containing suspect marijuana and a smoking pipe. He will be referred to the judicial officer. Closed.


April 26

010716 12:06 AM: Officers checked out a fire system trouble alarm at the Chi Omega house. No cause was determined. Closed.

010717 12:21 AM: Numerous loud noise complaints came from residents living behind the FIJI house. Officers responded and instructed the house president to direct the live band to reduce the volume on the music. The band had not been authorized by Student Affairs. More complaints resulted in the party being shut down early. Closed.

010718 2:08 AM: SMU PD received a complaint that someone was driving around spraying people with alcohol. Contact was made with the suspect driver and it was determined they had been spraying people with a water gun. They were instructed to cease that activity. Closed.

010719 2:21 AM: Someone from the PIKE house threw a glass bottle at two parked police cars that were in the alley behind the house. The bottle did not strike either vehicle. An officer entered the courtyard of the house and observed two suspects running inside the house. Contact was made with the house president who produced the two suspects. Both suspects denied throwing the bottle. Judicial referral. Closed.

010720 10:11 AM: A student reported his vehicle had been burglarized. Two stereo speakers and an amplifier had been removed. Open.

010721 11:47 AM: A student reported someone stole his parking decal from his vehicle. Closed.

010722 3:00 PM: A female student reported she encountered a man who was standing near the northwest corner of the Moody Garage. The man approached the woman as she made her way to the vehicle exit. The man made a suggestive comment to her which she believed to be threatening and obscene. She produced a small canister of pepper spray and discharged it into the man’s face. The man fled shortly thereafter and the woman ran to the police department to report the incident. The man’s description fits that of a suspect who attacked a woman last week inside the same garage. Officers searched the entire campus for the suspect with negative results. Closed.

010723 6:00 PM: A smoke detector activated in the Woman’s Basketball Coaches office. No cause was determined. Closed.

010724 6:14 PM: A staff member in the Fincher Building requested police respond and remove an unruly student from the office of MBA Management. The student had become angry because of grades and was using profanity and shouting at the staff members. The student was removed from the facility and will be referred to the Judicial Officer for action. Closed.

010725 6:20 PM: A man was observed exiting a 1997 Green Lincoln and running naked across the main quad to the fountain. The man got into and out of the fountain and returned to the vehicle. The vehicle was later observed parked behind the FIJI house. The owner is a student and denied knowing anything about the incident. Judicial referral. Closed.

010726 9:08 PM: The parent of a student reported his son had missed school for the last two days and failed to notify him of his whereabouts. The student is believed to have left the State in route to California. SMU PD placed an all points bulletin to all law enforcement agencies west of the Mississippi River to be on the look out for the student. Closed.


April 27

010727 12:35 AM: Officers responded to a fire alarm at the Science Information Center. A student admitted she pulled the alarm station handle by mistake. Closed.

010728 6:36 AM: UPFD responded to the Heroy Building after a faculty member smelled smoke. A faulty light ballast is believed to be the cause. Closed.

010729 1:43 PM: The Shuttles Hall elevator stalled trapping a staff member inside. She was released without incident. Closed.

010730 12:44 PM: A student reported a man attempted to steal her laptop computer in Storey Hall. The man has been seen several times in the past and is believed to be stealing computers and other items from the law school. He is described as a dark skinned, black male, approximately 6'0 tall with close shaved hair. He is slender and usually carries a portable radio so that people think he is a maintenance man. Open

010731 1:58 PM: A man was contacted at the Barr Pool after he was seen to be making obscene gestures towards women at the pool. He is not affiliated and was issued a criminal trespass warning. Closed.

010732 11:41 PM: The elevator stalled inside Boaz Hall trapping two students. They were released without incident. Closed.


April 28

010733 12:50 AM: A Pappa John’s Pizza delivery man telephoned and reported a man was trying to steal his pizzas. Officers responded to the 2800 block of Binkley Ave and observed a man run between some apartments. The Pizza man stated he delivered pizzas to an apartment and the occupants told him they were not paying for them. As the deliveryman left, the occupants pursued him to his car. Officers made contact with the suspects. Two are students. Investigation pending. Open.

010734 1:24 AM: Heavy cigarette smoke activated the fire alarm system at the SAE house. Closed.

010735 3:15 AM: The Sig Phi Epsilon house reported two men entered the house using the security code. Both men are not affiliated and were told to leave by a house member. Closed.

010736 3:45 AM: Officers stopped a vehicle that was being driven at high speed on Bishop Blvd and Binkley Ave. The driver is a student and had been drinking. She was charged with DUI Minor and referred to the Judicial Officer. Closed.

010737 5:33 AM: A student was identified after someone reported he was drunk and beating on cars parked in the lot outside and the hallway walls of the apartment building. The student was bloodied and intoxicated. Officers observed blood on the walls. The student denied being drunk and doing anything at all wrong. He was instructed to go inside his apartment and stay there. He will be referred to the Judicial Officer for Public Intoxication. Closed.

010738 11:47 AM: A student reported someone broke his car windshield and damaged the hood. The suspect is the student referred to in the previous incident report. Open.

010739 3:52 PM: Officers were called to secure the Spirit Shop after a staff member found the doors unlocked. A manager was contacted and responded. Closed.

010740 5:15 PM: An R/A in Shuttles Hall reported students in a room were drinking and smoking marijuana. Officers responded and took possession of marijuana, smoking paraphernalia and beer. The students were charged with possession and will be referred tot he Judicial Officer. Closed.

010741 4:23 PM: Officers responded to a major water leak at Hawk Hall. RLSH staff were contacted. Closed.


April 29

010742 2:37 AM: Officers observed a car that had been driven up on to the curb near the Binkley Ave intersection. The driver stated he lost control and struck the curb. Both front tires were flattened and the front end was damaged. An accident investigation was conducted. No alcohol was involved. Closed.

010743 6:15 PM: Officers checked the Hughes Trigg Student Center after an intrusion alarm activated. The building was searched. No cause was determined. Closed.

010744 7:15 PM: Officers identified a man during a traffic stop in the Owens Lot. The man was checked and found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The car he was driving was reported to be stolen. The man was arrested and booked in the U.P. Jail. Dallas PD was contacted about the stolen car. Closed.

010745 10:40 PM: A concerned parent called worried about his son, who is a student, and has not been heard from in the last 24 hours. The student lives in an apartment in Dallas. The parent was advised to contact the Dallas PD and have them check on him. Closed.

010746 11:53 PM: Officers quieted a loud party at 2988 Binkley Ave. Closed.

010747 11:23 PM: The Lambda Chi Fraternity reported a burglary of their house. Someone entered into the house and stole numerous articles of clothing and other ritual accoutrements from their ritual room. Open


April 30

010748 12:49 AM: Officers responded to the Delta Gamma house to silence loud music after neighbors complained. Closed.

010749 4:45 AM: Officers responded to a report of flooding at Letterman Hall. A pipe burst filling the west side of the building with 2 to 3 inches of water. Maintenance was notified.

010750 8:11 AM: A student reported he parked his car near the Junkins Engineering Building construction site for about 20 minutes. Upon returning, he observed that someone scratched the letters FAG into his paint surface. The man told officers he is not gay and has no suspects. Open.

010751 1:30 PM: A student and staff member were involved in a minor vehicle accident inside the Moody Garage. Closed.

010752 3:30 PM: A student reported her vehicle had been burglarized overnight while parked in the 3300 block of Dyer street. The passenger side window was shattered and the stereo had been stolen. Open.

010753 7:50 PM: A student reported he saw a man who police are looking for in a series of thefts around the law school and law library. The man is a white male, 5'10" slim build, about 20 - 30 YOA, clean shaven with brown, shoulder length hair. Closed.

010754 10:26 PM: A student was injured after he collided with another student while playing basketball in the Dedman Center of Lifetime Sports. Closed.
