010757 3:45 AM: A student had her vehicle stolen from the South Quad lot. DPD recovered the vehicle in the 5500 block of Yale Blvd. The stereo had been stolen. Open.

010758 4:08 AM: Officers and UPFD investigated a fire alarm at Moody Coliseum. No cause was determined. Fire Safety was notified. Closed.

010761 1:30 PM: A student reported an unidentified white male has attempted to make a date with her several times throughout the year. The man has not committed a crime, only persisted in asking the woman out. She declines each time, yet she has encountered him off campus since March. Closed.

010762 5:30 PM: A student reported her car’s sun roof had been shattered while parked in the 3100 block of Binkley Ave. Nothing was stolen. Open.

010763 9:16 PM: A woman became ill while attending an event at McFarlin Auditorium. She didn’t require EMS to respond. Closed.


May 2

010764 5:06 AM: A student reported a man was banging on the doors of rooms on the second floor of Boaz Hall. The man is a student and is known by the R/As for previous incidents. He will be referred to the Judicial Officer. Closed.

010765 11:08 AM: A non-affiliated man was arrested for outstanding warrants after he was observed in the SMU Bookstore and was suspected of shoplifting. He was booked into the U.P. Jail. Closed.

010766 11:33 AM: Officers arrested two other men who were suspected of stealing books from the SMU Bookstore and attempting to re-sell them at the Varsity Bookstore. Both men had outstanding warrants issued by various cities throughout the Metroplex. They were booked into the U.P. Jail. Closed.

010767 3:15 PM: A student reported his vehicle was damaged while parked in the Airline Garage. Open.

010768 3:45 PM: A staff member reported someone dented his car while it was parked in the Airline Garage. Open.

010769 4:45 PM: A non-affiliated woman reported her vehicle had been damaged after it was towed into the Dedman Center Underground Garage. She was instructed to contact AJ's Tow Truck Company to make a damage claim. Closed.

010770 5:32 PM: A student reported she was involved in a minor vehicle accident on SMU Blvd. Closed.

010771 6:10 PM: An elevator motor burned up in Virginia Hall. U.P.F.D responded to help clear smoke. Closed.

010772 6:35 PM: A student reported his cellular telephone had been stolen. The phone had been left unattended outside of the Hughes Trigg Student Center. Closed.

010773 11:50 PM: A student reported a male student had been seen in Shuttles Hall and was said to be looking for her. She is employed at Dedman Fitness Center and had earlier had the male student removed from the facility for failing to follow the fitness center's rules. Closed.

010774 11:53PM: A student employee at Dedman Fitness Center reported expelling a student from the building for repeatedly failing to have identification. The student left without incident, however he was later spotted in Shuttles Hall allegedly asking questions about the student who happens to live in Shuttles Hall. Closed


May 3

010775 12:08 AM: Officers observed several individuals talking loudly and shouting on the second floor balcony of the Kappa Sigma house. Officers instructed the individuals to leave if they were not residents of the house. The house was cleared with no further incidents. Closed

010776 01:56 AM: Two students reported a brick and a rock was thrown through two windows at the Lambda Chi house. One student sustained a small cut on his hand from the broken glass. The student declined treatment. Closed.

010777 02:18 AM: At 6000 Ownby, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration. Officers observed beer in the vehicle on the floorboard. The driver, a student, was determined to be under the legal age to possess alcohol. Officers also found a prescription bottle that contained a control substance. Case referred to the judicial officer. Closed

010778 03:25 AM: An officer observed a student standing outside of Morrison Hall with his hand inside a window screen. Officers interviewed the student and determined his friend left his keys outside the window behind the screen, for the student to enter the room. Closed.

010779 9:01 AM: SMU PD responded to a fire alarm activation at McElvaney Hall. A Power surge was determined as the cause for the alarm.

010780 11:25 AM: A staff member reported receiving threatening E-mails from a former student in the Perkins School of Theology. The student was being treated for mental illness that became so acute he had to withdraw from the University last semester. Open.

010781 5:00 PM: A staff member reported a VCR stolen from the computer room at Mary Hay Hall. No further information at this time. Open.

010782 9:02 PM: A student reported his Compaq laptop computer was stolen from Florence Hall. Open

010783 11:36 PM: A student turned in a shotgun shell that he found on the street at the intersection of Airline Rd and SMU Blvd. Closed.


May 4

010784 2:00 AM: Students at the Kappa Sigma house reported observing a nude white male seated inside of a maroon Buick 4 door. The suspect has pulled into the alley behind the house and was apparently masturbating. A couple of the men were able to get the vehicle license plate before he drove away. Open.

010785 2:58 AM: Two students were identified during a traffic stop on Bishop Blvd. Both men had been drinking and are under 21. They were also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and smoking paraphernalia. Open.

010786 3:33 AM: The fire alarm activated at the Beta house. No cause was determined. Closed.


May 5

010787 3:37 AM: Officers conducted a traffic stop on Daniel Street. The driver and passenger are not affiliated with SMU. Both had been drinking however and are over 21. They were released to the passenger’s mother who responded to drive them both home. Closed.

010788 4:45 AM: The fire alarm activated at the SAE house. A smoke detector on the second floor malfunctioned. Closed.

010789 6:18 PM: A student was questioned after he was observed exiting a vehicle parked in a disabled person’s slot. The student had an illegally obtained disabled person’s placard that he was using fraudulently. He told police the placard belonged to another student’s mother. Both will be referred to the judicial officer. Closed.

010790 11:40 PM: An officer investigated a fire system trouble alarm at the Alpha Psi Lambda house. No cause was determined. Closed.

010791 11:46 PM: A student reported observing a suspicious man walking between the PIKE house and the storage building. The man fled when he approached him. Closed.


May 6

010792 1:02 AM: A student was stopped in the 3100 block of Binkley Ave after he was observed "fishtailing" his car and driving recklessly. He will be referred to the Judicial Officer for action. Closed.

010793 1:15 AM: A student reported someone broke the driver’s side window out of his Jeep. The vehicle was parked in the South Quad Lot. Closed.

010794 4:39 AM: A student was observed staggering in the roadway at 3100 Binkley Ave. She was questioned and found to be intoxicated. She is 19 years old. The officer instructed her to go to her residence hall room. Minutes later, the same woman was observed walking toward a parked car with a purse and keys. When she spotted the officer, she ran. However, she was stopped shortly thereafter and cited for Minor Consumption of Alcohol. She was escorted to her room by the officer. Closed.

010795 4:09 AM: A student reported that his Jeep had been burglarized while parked in the 6400 block of Hilltop Lane. The CD player had been stolen. Open.

010796 5:17 PM: Officers notified maintenance about a water leak at the Perkins Administration Building. Closed.


May 7

010797 6:45 AM: Officers responded to a motion sensor alarm at the Dawson Service Center. No cause was found. Closed.

010798 2:56 PM: The Hamon Arts Library reported a student attempted to leave the library with a concealed book. The book was hidden inside the student's bookbag. She related she forgot it was in the bag. She will be referred to the Judicial Officer for a hearing. Closed.

010799 7:50 PM: The fire alarm activated at Moore Hall. A student was in the kitchen cooking and burned the food. Closed.

010800 8:14 PM: Officers responded to Storey Hall on a burglary call. Someone entered several offices through the ceiling. Investigation is open.


May 8

010801 1:23 AM: An officer responded to a loud noise complaint coming from 2980 Binkley Ave. The residents were sitting outside talking. They agreed to go inside the apartment for the evening. Closed.

010802 5:28 AM: Officers and EMS responded to Morrison Hall after a student became ill. He was transported to Presbyterian Hospital for treatment. Closed.

010803 9:13 AM: A faculty member reported a test was stolen from a classroom in the Crow Building. The suspect is believed to be a male student. Open.

010804 10:30 AM: A woman reported a suspicious man was seated in a parked car at the Commuter Lot. Officers arrived and identified the man. He did not have a valid driver's license and indicated he was waiting on his daughter. The man was checked and a warrant had been issued for his arrest. The man was booked into the U.P. Jail on the Dallas warrant. Closed.

010805 12:57 PM: Officers and EMS responded to McIntosh Hall after a student became ill. He is a diabetic and admitted he had not eaten for 24 hrs. He was stabilized and declined medical transport. Closed.

010806 6:55 PM: Officers and EMS responded to a vehicle - bicyclist accident in the 5900 block of Bishop Blvd. The bicyclist was transported to Presbyterian Hospital for treatment of injured sustained from the collision. Closed.

010807 8:41 PM: A woman reported as she left the Dedman Fitness Center, a white male, driving a mid-sized, four door car, drove up next to her parked car and attempted to solicit her for sex. The man was reported to have dark colored, receding hair, and was unshaven. Police searched the campus without finding the suspect. Closed.

010808 10:26 PM: Officers received a report from a woman that a white male, in his early thirties, with short dark hair, unshaven and with a thick European accent, drove up to her parked car at the Blockbuster video store on Hillcrest Ave and solicited her for sex. The woman immediately got into her car and the man drove away rapidly. She said he was driving a four door, jade green Toyota Corola. The car may have Illinois plates. University Park and SMU officers searched the area with negative results. Closed.


May 9

010809 04:23AM: SMU PD officers found the northeast corner refuse container at the OFAC engulfed in flames. UPFD responded and extinguished the flames. No injuries were reported, and the cause for fire has yet to be determined. Closed.

010810 8:00AM: A SMU staff member reported a microwave oven was stolen from the lobby of Shuttles Hall. Value of the loss was $200.00 dollars. Closed.

010811 1:55PM: A student reported while moving her property from Shuttles Hall, someone stole her television. She estimated the loss at $300.00 dollars. Closed.

010812 2:11PM: SMU PD responded to an intrusion alarm activation at the Hamon Arts Library. A staff member on scene failed to enter the code properly. The alarm was reset. Closed.

010813 02:20AM: SMU PD responded to a trouble alarm activation at McElvaney Hall. The building was checked and the cause for the alarm was not determined. Closed


May 10

010814 12:57 PM: A student reported someone hit his parked truck and left without leaving information. Closed.

010815 2:50 PM: A staff member suffered an apparent seizure in Caruth Hall. H.P. EMS responded and transported her to Baylor. Closed.

010816 4:39 PM: A student reported someone hit his parked truck in Meadows Lot 2 and left the scene without leaving any information. Closed.

010817 8:45 PM: An officer checked a fire alarm trouble signal at Moore Hall. A smoke detector in the west attic was the cause. Closed.


May 11

010818 1:30 AM: An SMU officer located two juvenile suspects who were wanted for questioning by U.P.P.D. Closed.

010819 1:50 AM: The Area Director in Shuttles Hall requested assistance with two non-affiliated men who were refusing to leave the residence hall. Both had been drinking. A check revealed they had outstanding traffics. They were arrested and booked into the U.P. Jail. Closed.

010820 3:00 AM: Two students were identified after an officer responded to a noise complaint in the alley behind the KA House. Both men had been drinking and are under 21 YOA. They will be referred to the Judicial Officer for Minor in Possession. Closed.

010821 3:25 AM: Officers checked the CEN-TEX trailer after receiving a trouble alarm. No cause was found. Closed.

010822 3:50 AM: Officers responded to a fight in progress in Peyton Hall. Three students were involved. The altercation was over when police arrived. The parties will be referred for a judicial hearing. Closed.

010823 5:30 AM: Two students were identified by an officer after they had been reported to be causing a disturbance. Both had been drinking and are over 21. Closed.

010824 2:20 AM: Officers responded to the Kappa Sigma House after neighbors reported loud noise and fireworks being used. A group of people were instructed to leave the balconies and keep the noise down. Closed.

010825 6:40 AM: Officers responded to an intrusion alarm at the Pi Phi House. A resident set off the alarm by mistake. Closed.

010826 6:47 AM: Officers responded to an intrusion alarm at the Meadows Museum. An employee set off the alarm by mistake.

010827 11:10 AM: A student reported someone dented his parked car in the Moody Garage and left the accident scene without leaving information. Closed.

010828 2:16 PM: The Moore Hall Director reported the theft of an oil painting that had been hanging in the TV lounge. Open.

010829 9:23 PM: A student became stuck in the Shuttles Hall elevator after it stalled. He was released without incident. Closed.


May 12

010830 12:06 AM: Officers responded to a loud noise complaint at 51 A of the Binkley Apts. The residents complied with the officer’s request to turn their music down. Closed.

010831 2:41 AM: Officers responded to a loud noise complaint at 3130 Daniel Apt 1. Two people were instructed to stop shouting while standing on the balcony. Closed.

010832 3:20 AM: Someone discharged a fire extinguisher in the Phi Delt house. Closed.

010833 4:10 AM: A faculty member was identified during a traffic stop in the Dedman 3 Lot. He had been drinking and was arrested for DWI. He was booked into the U.P. Jail. Closed.

010834 10:00 PM: A man drove his pickup into the EXIT gate of the Patterson Lot and damaged three tires on the security treadles. The man claims he never saw the warning signs. Closed.


May 13

010835 2:49 AM: A resident accidentally set off the intrusion alarm at the Panhellinic House at 3109 Daniel. Closed.

010836 11:19 PM: The fire alarm activated at the AKA House. Smoke in the kitchen set off the system. Closed.

May 14

010839 01:49AM: Officers responded to the Delta Gamma House 3120 Daniel Ave. on a noise complaint. Three students were found singing on the back patio. Officers cleared without incident, students agreed to lower their voices. Closed.

010840 05:39AM: A resident on Dyer St. reported students igniting fireworks at the Kappa Alpha house. SMU PD identified the student who was responsible for the activity. Closed.

010841 8:49AM: A staff member reported her computer monitor was stolen from her office in Hughes Trigg Student Ctr. Value of the loss is estimated at $400.00 dollars Open.

010842 8:00PM: A student reported an unknown person damaged her vehicle while parked in the 6400 Blk of Ownby Dr. A dent was found on the drivers side door along with blue paint transfer. No witnesses. Closed.


May 15

010843 12:37AM: SMU PD officers responded to a fire alarm activation at Ford Stadium. A smoke detector was found in alarm due to steam from a mechanical room on the lower level. U.P.F.D. responded to scene and cleared after determining no smoke or fire was present. Closed.

010844 08:43AM: A temporary staff member using a weed trimmer in the alley of the Tower Apartments struck a rock and threw it up from the trimmer shattering the rear window on a student's vehicle. SMU PD was called to the scene. It was later discovered through a routine check that he had an outstanding warrant from Dallas Police Department, which was confirmed. He was transported and booked into University Park Jail. Closed.

010845 4:42PM: A student reported his vehicle was damaged by an unknown Hispanic man while parked in the South Quad parking lot. The student said the man told him he had no insurance, and when he attempted to call the police the man drove away. The student's vehicle sustained a large dent and red paint transfer on the rear passenger quarter panel. Open.

010846 5:19PM: SMU PD responded to the Kappa Sigma House on a report of smoke and open flames. Officers found a metal pail in the backyard that contained the fire. Officers extinguished the fire without the assistance of U.P.F.D. Open.


May 16

010847 02:52AM An officer observed a man carrying an iron bench from the Kappa Sigma House. The man noticed officers and attempted to conceal the bench behind a fence. He told officers he was a Kappa Sig alumnus and that he planned to return the bench to the house in the fall. Due to inconsistencies in his story the bench was returned to the house. Closed.

010848 09:42AM A staff member reported being trapped in an elevator inside the Fincher Building. Millar elevator company responded and released the person. Closed.

010849 3:30PM A student reported his laptop computer was stolen from the Phi Gamma Delta house. A witness in the house stated he confronted an unauthorized Hispanic male wondering through the house. The witness confronted the man and asked what business he had in the house. He told the witness he was there to clean the house. No witnesses have come forth to report seeing the laptop in the man's possession. Open.

010850 1:11PM A student and a Dart passenger bus were involved in motor vehicle accident at Dyer Street and Airline Road. The student driver was not injured, but his vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The bus sustained very light damage near the rear quarter panel when the driver attempted to turn left on to Dyer St. The student's vehicle was sitting at the intersection when the rear side quarter panel of the bus clipped the left front end on the student's vehicle. A passenger in the bus reported minor injuries to her knee and right arm, resulting from the bus slamming its brakes. University Park Paramedics responded to the scene and treated the passenger. She refused transport to the hospital. Closed.

010851 1:57PM A staff member at the Delta Gamma House reported that person(s) unknown attempted to remove a screen from a window. No witnesses or suspects at this time. Closed.

010852 4:42PM A staff member at the Gamma Phi Beta House reported someone stole the 2000 photo composite of the sorority and wrote graphic sexual messages on several room doors. No witnesses or suspects at this time. Open.

010853 8:42PM SMU PD responded to a trouble alarm activation at Ford Stadium. The area was checked and found secure, cause for the alarm was not determined. Closed.

010854 8:43PM SMU PD received a trouble alarm activation at Moore Hall 5906 Hillcrest. The alarm panel reported trouble in the west attic stairwell. The area was checked for fire or smoke and the panel reset. Closed.

010855 11:29 PM: A man was identified in the Dedman 3 Lot after a U.P. officer found him sleeping inside his car. The man had no driver’s license and was taken home by the U.P.P.D. officer. Closed.


May 17

010856 2:25 AM: An officer found a vehicle that had been burglarized while parked in the north alley behind 2932 Binkley Ave. The thief attempted to remove the car’s stereo. Open

010857 9:36 AM: Officers responded to a suspicious person call in the alley behind the FIJI House. The suspect was the same man who had been seen inside the FIJI House on the 16th. The man was an SMU employee and worked as a custodian. He admitted to being inside the FIJI House the day before without authorization. A supervisor responded and terminated the employment of the man. He was issued a criminal trespass warning and was removed from the campus. Closed.

010858 11:21 AM: Officers checked a fire system trouble alarm at Martin Hall. Closed.

010859 5:15 PM: An officer responded to the KA House after neighbors reported someone was igniting fireworks behind the house. Contact was man with two students. They were told to stop the activity. Closed.


May 18

010860 3:33 AM: An officer made contact with a woman who was intoxicated and attempting to drive away in a vehicle that was parked in the 2800 block of Binkley Ave. She is a student and is under 21 YOA. The woman also presented a fraudulent driver’s license to the office in an attempt to deceive him. Furthermore, she attempted to start the vehicle while the office was standing by and broke the key off in her car ignition. She was issued a citation for Minor Consumption of Alcohol and released to a friend. Judicial Officer/City Court. Closed

010861 9:20 AM: A student reported someone placed stickers on his truck while it was parked overnight in the West Quad Lot. Closed.

010862 2:30 PM: U.P. EMS was called to the Underwood Law Library after a man suffered a diabetic seizure. Closed.

010863 10:30 PM: Officers investigated an intrusion alarm at the Public Affairs office. A door was found to be unlocked. The building was checked. Closed.

010864 11:30 PM: Officers received a report of loud music coming from 2988 Binkley Ave, Apartment 364. The residents were instructed to lower the volume. Closed.


May 20

010865 5:16 PM: A woman tripped and fell while exiting the SW corner entrance of the Moody Garage. U.P. EMS responded to examine her. She was treated on scene by EMS. Closed.

010866 6:00 PM: SMU PD received a call from U.P.P.D. as relayed to them by Dallas PD. A woman was reported to be in the Airline Garage unconscious from a drug overdose. SMU officers responded a found the woman who is also a student. She had taken various pills, and was seated and awake in her car. EMS responded and transported her to Parkland Hospital. Closed.

010867 8:30 PM: The NE gate arm at the Heroy Lot had been broken off by an unknown individual. Closed.

May 21

010870 06:18AM: SMU PD responded to a fire alarm activation at Moore Hall. Upon arrival, officers found a smoke detector in the west attic had activated. UP. Fire Dept. responded and checked the building. Cause for the alarm was not determined. Closed.

010871 06:49AM: A smoke detector on the third level of Ford Stadium was found activated. Checks of the third level were made by UP. Fire Dept, and the cause for the alarm was not determined. Closed

010872 12:00AM: A staff member reported several ceiling tiles were damaged at the Sigma Chi house. There were no witnesses or suspects at this time. Only a few of the house members stayed in the house over the weekend and they have all vacated for the summer. Closed.

010873 6:07PM: SMU PD responded to Florence Hall on reports of two juveniles climbing into a window on the eastside. Officers found the youths on the second floor in a lecture room. Both admitted making unauthorized entry into the building. Both parents were notified and the two juveniles released. Closed.

010874 11:23PM: SMU PD responded to an intrusion alarm at the Meadow Museum. A staff member failed to exit the building before allotted time causing the alarm to activate. Closed.


May 22

010875 03:38AM: Officers responded to a fire alarm activation at the Delta Gamma house. The alarm panel was reset to normal mode by the time officers arrived. No fire or smoke present. Cause for the alarm was not determined. Closed.

010876 06:07AM: Officers responded to a fire alarm activation at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house. The panel was reset upon officers arrival. No smoke or fire present. Cause of the alarm could not be determined. Closed.

010877 11:31AM: A staff member reported property missing from the Gates Restaurant in the Meadows Museum. A deposit envelope containing cash and credit receipts for the April 27, 2001 business day is missing. The staff member believes the envelope may have been misplaced in the office. The amount of cash and receipts is not known at this time. Open.

010878 11:32AM: A staff member reported the theft of a Hewlett Packard printer from a supply room at Hughes Trigg student Ctr. The property was last seen in the room back on May 17th 2001. Value of the loss is estimated at $119.00 dollars. Open.

010879 5:53PM: The fire alarm activated in Collins Hall. Someone burned popcorn. Closed.

010880 7:53PM: A student reported his vehicle was damaged while parked on Frat Row. A small dent was discovered on the rear quarter panel of the vehicle. No witnesses at this time. Closed.


May 23

010881 1:32 AM: Officers investigated an alarm at the Moody Garage. An electrical switch box had tripped and was reset. Closed

010882 2:00 AM: An officer investigated a fire system trouble alarm at Ford Stadium. Closed


May 24

010883 12:36AM Officers responded to a trouble alarm activation at Virginia Hall. The alarm panel was restored to normal, and cause for the alarm was undetermined. Closed.

010884 2:43AM was dispatched to an intrusion alarm activation at the Panhellenic house. The house was checked and all exterior doors found secure. Closed.

010885 3:03AM For the past two weeks officers have responded to a fire alarm activation at Ford Stadium. The alarm activation's are immediately followed by restored signals. Cause for the alarms have not been determined, an alarm technician has been contacted to repair the system. Closed.

010886 9:26PM A women attending the DeSoto High School graduation ceremony at Moody Coliseum, reported her purse was stolen. The purse contained no currency, however, all personal effects were taken. Value of the loss was estimated at $30.00 dollars. Closed.

010887 10:30PM A women at the DeSoto High School graduation ceremony at Moody Coliseum reported her cell phone was missing. She will check back with event staff on Friday to see if the phone was located. Value of the loss was estimated at $100.00 dollars. Closed.


May 25

010889 4:19 PM: Two men were issued criminal trespass warnings after they were halted from selling flowers at a high school graduation in Moody Coliseum. Closed.

010890 10:02 PM: A man was stopped after he was observed attempting to remove a sign from Moody Coliseum. Closed.


May 26

010891 2:35 PM: An officer investigated a minor traffic accident on Binkley Ave. Closed

010892 3:09 PM: EMS was called to examine an elderly woman who fainted outside of Moody Coliseum. Closed.

010893 3:48 PM: EMS was called to examine an elderly man who became ill inside Moody Coliseum. Closed.

010894 10:40 PM: A man drove his truck through the EXIT side of the Patterson Lot and flattened two front tires on the security treadles. Closed.


May 27

010895 1:50 PM: EMS was called to the 3100 block of Binkley Ave after a man fell off his bicycle and injured his shoulder. Closed.

010896 2:45 PM: A woman tripped outside of McFarlin Auditorium and struck her head on a stanchion. She did not require EMS response. Closed.

010897 3:23 PM: EMS was called to McFarlin Blvd after a parking attendant's foot was run over by a passing vehicle. She declined medical transport and was driven to the hospital by a friend. Closed.

010898 9:50 PM: Officers investigated a trouble alarm at the Meadows Museum. Closed.


May 28
