  •     DO contact your local police department to conduct a security survey of your home. Security Survey will: Determine your home’s security status, will identify deficiencies or security risks to define the protection needed, and to make recommendations to minimize the criminal opportunity.

  •    Get to know your neighbors. Know which one you can trust and depend on in an emergency.

  •   Never give personal information to phone solicitors.

  •    Get a door viewer (peephole) 190 degrees or better.

  •   Use the door viewer before opening the door.

  •  Do not use your full name on your mailbox, in the telephone directory, or on your answering machine.

  •   Mark your property, most burglars will not steal marked property.

  •   Try not to prop open outside doors.

  •   Never let a stranger in your house even if he looks harmless.

  •  Don’t sleep with your windows open.

  •    Don’t hide house keys under or on top of anything out doors.

  •  Don’t come home to a dark house keep a light on inside and out.

  •   Don’t let strangers in your house to use the phone, lock the door behind you and you make the call for them.

  •   Do not leave a schedule of your times away on your answering machine.
