Appeal a Citation
If a citation is unwarranted an online request for appeal must be formally
submitted to contest the citation. The request for appeal must be submitted 15
calendar days from the issue date to be considered. All others will not be
considered. The on line form is the appellant's opportunity to include all
pertinent information. It is the
responsibility of the appellant to make his/her case and include
relevant permit numbers, vehicle information, officer/Park N Pony employee names, SMU ID numbers, receipt numbers and/or
receipt date etc. A case
will not be made on behalf of the appellant and omitted information could result
in an appeal denial.
Submitting a Request for Appeal
- All appeals must be submitted in writing
using on-line e-business.
- A parking citation must be appealed within 15 calendar days of the
issuance date of the citation.
- To submit an appeal, all applicable information
on the form must be filled out completely.
- Once an appeal request is submitted, the
confirmation of submittal should be printed out and kept for your records.

Appeals are administratively reviewed and are based
on current published parking regulations. Please be aware that all
review decisions are final so please ensure that you've substantiated a
case as decisions will not be reversed.
- The appeal review makes
one of these decisions: Granted, Denied, or Reduced
- Appeal
decisions will normally be made within two to three (2-3) weeks of
submitting the appeals however expect a delay during high volume periods.
Appeals Based On The Following Are Not Acceptable:
- Ignorance of the regulations
- Stated inability to find a permitted parking space
- Operation of the vehicle by another person
- Stated failure of officer to ticket previously for similar offenses
- Inability to pay fine
- Disagreement with parking policies and/or Appeal Review decisions
"What happens after I submit and appeal?"
ALL appeals are reviewed in the order they are submitted. When reviewed
the following occurs:
- Citations are admistratively reviewed and the reason for appeal is read.
- The parking and traffic rules relevant to the appeal are considered.
- Other information is reviewed such as area maps, citation/appeal
history, digital photograph of the violation, and area signage.
- A decision is made on the appeal followed by an email response of the
decision made that includes what action (if any) is necessary at that time.
