NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION AND STUDENT SUPPORT

Mustang Corral Directors

The following Student Directors and Intern were selected by the Office of New Student Orientation and Student Support during the Fall semester through an application, recommendation, and interview process. The Student Director Team took a one-hour course, Orientation Leadership Institute, in the spring to develop their orientation leadership skills and to begin planning for Mustang Corral. In addition, they utilized the semester to begin the initial phases of the planning process. Their position is a paying job May through August where they work full-time to perfect the Mustang Corral experience and assist the AARO team with the first step of the orientation process.

	Meghan Charles, Mustang Corral Intern Senior San Antonio, TX Accounting "My first experience with Mustang Corral was as a sophomore corral leader. I enjoyed the experience so much that I have been involved with Mustang Corral ever since. It is a great way to meet not only other students but also faculty and staff. SMU is already a small campus but after participating in Mustang Corral the campus seems even smaller. However, Mustang Corral was so much fun and really helped me fall in love with SMU. I felt at home, knowing all the traditions, ways to get involved, and all the new friends I met. I even met my current roommate at Corral! SMU is the best, because it feels like one big family, and you always see a familiar face." 	Elizabeth Langdon, Mustang Corral Director Senior Coconut Creek, Florida Meadows: Corporate Communications/Public Affairs "As a transfer student, I was unsure that I would be able to find my place on a new campus, but as soon as I took a chance and got involved I knew that things would be great. As a Mustang Corral Director this year in the Office of New Student Orientation and Student Support, I hope to express my excitement to new transfer and incoming students and assist with their transition and nervousness. The job opportunity with New Student Orientation and Student Support provided me with a way to get really involved at SMU after transferring into the university as a sophomore. Now, a year after being an Orientation leader, I feel more invested in and connected to the university than ever.
