The Office of New Student Orientation and Student Support has three types of student leadership: Student Orientation Directors/Intern, AARO Leaders, and Mustang Corral Leaders:

Orientation Directors are charged with the planning, programming, and implementation of the two-step orientation program: AARO, and Mustang Corral. Each director is slotted into a particular orientation program and is also a member of the Orientation Leadership Institute.

AARO Leaders are selected each Spring to help implement
the two-step orientation process including AARO and Mustang
Corral. All current SMU students are eligible to apply. Leaders participate in training programs to prepare them for small group leadership, educate them on SMU facts and incoming student questions, as well as provide them with an understanding of effective group facilitation.
This is a paid position ($3,000 stipend) that requires you to be
on campus from June until the start of fall semester. Applications will be available to download January 24, 2012. Applications are due on Monday, February 6th by 5:00 PM |

Mustang Corral Leaders are selected each
Spring to help implement the extended-orientation program,
Mustang Corral. All current SMU students are
eligible to apply. Leaders participate in training programs to
prepare them for small group leadership, educate them on SMU
facts and incoming student questions, as well as provide them
with an understanding of effective group facilitation. Mustang
Corral is a three day, two night off campus retreat that
introduces the new students to academic life, spirit and
traditions and allows the opportunity to meet other incoming
students, faculty, staff, and student leaders.
