SMU-in-Taos at Fort Burgwin Research Center in New Mexico is the site of a 13th-century Indian Pueblo, where archaeology students receive academic credit for excavation participation.

First Year Leadership Opportunities

Class of 2015 Leadership is a group of opportunities specifically for the incoming first year students.  Made up of The Union, Mustang 11, and the First-Year Senators, the students selected or elected to these positions provide leadership and direction for the entire Class of 2015.

Eligibility Requirements

  •  Turn-in application by the deadline

  •  Attend a one-hour interview

  •  Be attending SMU as the first semester in college

  •  Full-time student (at least 12 hours)

  •  Maintain good academic and judicial standing with the university

 Application Process

1. Complete the online application.

             Applications Due: Monday, August 29, 2011 by 5:00 P.M.   

2. Everyone that applies may not receive an interview. Finalists will be notified by campus email no later than 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30st to come and sign up for an interview before 5:00 PM in the New Student Orientation and Student Support Office located on the third floor of Hughes Trigg Student Center.

3. Sign up for an hour interview in the New Student Orientation and Student Support Office located on the third floor of Hughes Trigg Student Center, Suite 307.

            Interview Dates: Tuesday, August 30st

3. You will be notified through your SMU email account on Friday, September 2 if you have been selected.
