StrengthsQuest History

StrengthsQuest is a revolutionary program from the Gallup Organization that focuses on strengths rather than weaknesses of students. It is Gallup's strengths development program for college-age students.

Success in education--and in meeting any challenge life presents --if found in working from strengths, and The Gallup Organization understands this better than anyone. More than 2,000,000 interviews with people from virtually every profession, career, and field of achievement have yielded a simple, yet profound finding: StrengthsQuest Photo

Top achievers understand their talents and strengths, and build their lives upon them.

StrengthsQuest leads each student in a discovery of his or her natural talents and to unique and valuable insights into developing those talents into strengths. The student becomes better equipped to succeed, and to make effective decisions that enable him or her to balance the demands of class work with extra-curricular activities, job, and family.

More specifically, with StrengthsQuest, students can:

  •    discover and develop their greatest talents
  •    use their strengths to improve their grades and increase their learning
  •    strategically determine a rewarding career path
  •    focus on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses

StrengthsQuest at Mustang Corral

During the Mustang Corral, you will be introduced to the StrengthsFinder assessment, StrengthsQuest philosophy and all 34 Strengths. The StrengthsQuest philosophy will allow incoming students to engage in many conversations, and serve as the common language across the SMU community.  Learning about your top five strengths will allow the opportunity to talk to your roommate, professor, or a staff member about how you see your strengths in a variety of areas in your life---academic life, developing study skills, or in your personal relationships throughout your college experience.
