Orientation is an on-going process designed to assist you in making a successful transition to college life at SMU, whether you're a new first-year or transfer student. It involves Summer Orientation (AARO), Mustang Corral, Mustang Stampede, Transfer and Non-Traditional programs and The Varsity Newsletter.
SMU orientation is a time to Learn ~ to learn about what college courses are like at SMU, what student life is all about, what services are available to assist you, and what unique opportunities exist to help you broaden your experience. You will learn how to take full advantage of all that SMU has to offer both inside and outside the classroom, and as a result you will have the SMU Advantage.
Orientation is a time to Experience ~ to experience what it is like to take college exams, register for SMU courses, familiarize yourself with technology for your courses, live in the residence halls on campus, eat your meals in Umphrey Lee, participate in student activities, and walk across campus. If you take advantage of some of the optional orientation activities, you can learn to experience the wilderness, and learn to serve the local community.
Orientation is a time to Meet ~ to meet faculty, staff, administrators and your peers! It's a time to make acquaintances and new friends.
Orientation is for New Students and Family Members ~ whether you have been to the SMU campus before or not, there is always something to learn, something to experience, and someone to meet.
