We would like to thank those who took the time to offer feedback on the March 8 telephone notification of SMUís delayed opening due to inclement weather. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion caused by the call sent through our automated system.
You have our commitment that we will further refine our recipient list so that we reach only those who truly need the information in such cases. (In the case of parents, you would have received a call if your son or daughter has your home number listed as his or her home number.)
We hope you will agree that this automated system is an important tool for us to reach the extended SMU community under any number of different circumstances, including a possible emergency. Activation of the system March 8 is helping us to identify and solve problems related to automatic notification.
Again, please accept our apology and know that our actions are motivated by a desire to help the SMU community to be informed.
