SMU's
2007 Relay for Life raised about $125,000 in the fight against
cancer, as more than 650 students participated in the evening-long team relay in
which teams walk non-stop to symbolize that cancer never sleeps and we must
keep moving forward in the fight against it.
Held Friday, this was the fourth year for SMU to participate in the nationwide event, which celebrates cancer survivorship and raises money for research and programs for the American Cancer Society. Students were divided into teams. During the event, team members took turns walking or running laps, and each team sought to keep at least one team member moving at all times.
This year's Relay for Life at SMU was sponsored by Panhellenic.
