Students, faculty and staff at SMU can enjoy a whole new dining experience on campus starting Thursday, August 17. After months of renovations, the new-and-improved RFoC — Real Food on Campus — will open on the lower level of the Umphrey Lee Center.
“The vision for the renovation was to open it up and make it more interesting, like a residential restaurant as opposed to a cafeteria or dining hall,” said Julie Wiksten, SMU’s Director of Auxiliary Services. “I absolutely feel we achieved the goals we set.”
RFoC’s new look and feel is warm and inviting with rich earth tones, soft lighting and sleek granite countertops. Featuring more exhibition-style cooking, it will have numerous action stations, comfort foods, expanded produce market and new breakfast and bakery areas. Other new features include a new entrance from the exterior of the building and windows visible from anywhere within.
“We are thrilled with the results of the renovation,” said Wiksten. “The SMU community can really feel proud of the RFoC.”
