SMUís Student Bar Association will host its annual 5K charity run and carnival Saturday, Sept. 29, with proceeds from both earmarked for the Southwest Transplant Foundation.
Runners in Race Judicata will check in at 7 a.m. and leave the starting line at 8 a.m. About 150 people had registered by mid-week, but participants can register in person in the Pit at the Dedman School of Law, and late registration is available the morning of the event. The student group is also offering a special deal for the less athletically motivated this year: Sign up in advance, sleep in on the morning of the race, and consider your registration fee a donation.
Both the race and carnival are open to SMU Law School students, faculty, staff, their families and the neighboring community. The race will begin and end at the Law School, winding its way through University Park east and north of the SMU campus. (See the route.)
The carnival will be set up on the on the Law School quad from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with traditional games, a dunking booth, a raffle, face painting, candy and prizes.
