Panhellenic Association wins national award

Southern Methodist University's Panhellenic Association has received the National Panhellenic Conference Progress Award for campuses with six to 10 sorority chapters for the 2005-07 biennium.

"For the past two years, our community has been dedicated to promotion and development of guidelines and events," said Shannon Sumerlin, coordinator of Student Activities & Greek Affairs.

"We have focused on our recruitment process and practices, new member education programs, and scholastic achievements. We have worked to instill a sense of community among our members, realizing that the sorority experience is something to stand up for," Sumerlin said.
