Mustang Olympians in Beijing
DALLAS (SMU) — As the world watches the action surrounding the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, SMU alumni, coaches and student-athletes are involved in the games as competitors, coaches and officials.

SMU has its largest presence in the pool, where nine Mustangs are competing. In addition, current SMU women's head coach Steve Collins is coaching the Slovakian National Team and current men's head coach Eddie Sinnott is managing the U.S. Team.
SMU's strong track-and-field tradition is being showcased as four former `Stangs compete. Libor Charfreitag, Michael Robertson and Aleksander Tammert are taking part in the throws, and Gaelle Niare is in high jump.
In addition, tennis letter-winner Rodney Harmon is the head men's tennis coach of the U.S. Olympic Team, and swimmer-turned-rower Dr. Rania Elwani is a member of the International Olympic Committee's Athletes Commission.
