INDIANAPOLIS (NCAA/SMU) – The NCAA has presented SMU a special recognition award for its exemplary efforts to educate those in collegiate athletics about the pitfalls of sports wagering.
The Agent, Gambling and Amateurism Activities (AGA) Sports Wagering Education Special Recognition Award praises SMU for providing a consistent message to student-athletes, coaches and administrators across a number of different mediums and keeping the messages fresh and interesting.
SMU uses fliers, e-mails, blogs, brochures, newsletters, the web, handbooks, expert speakers and in-person compliance presentations, said Jeff Konya, associate athletic director for Compliance & Student Services at SMU.
