The SMU Mustangs football team won their home-opener this weekend, defeating the Texas State University bobcats 47-36.
The victory marked the first home game for newly hired Football Coach June Jones. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell threw five touchdown passes in Saturday night's victory, ending an 11-game losing streak. Read more.
Meanwhile Men's Soccer tied the University of California at Berkeley, Women's Soccer lost a squeaker to nationally ranked Kansas and the volleyball team placed third in the SMU Radisson Invitational.
Forward Paulo da Silva of Men's Soccer scored his third goal in four games and goalkeeper Craig Hill made five saves to lead Mustangs to a 1-1 tie against the Cal Bears at the Cal Legacy Classic in Berkeley on Sunday afternoon. Read more.
The SMU women's soccer team battled nationally-ranked Kansas to a near-draw on the stat sheet, but fell 1-0 to the Jayhawks on Sunday afternoon at SMU's Westcott Field. Read more.
SMU Volleyball recorded a monstrous defensive effort with 91 digs and six blocks. En route to their third place finish Saturday, sophomore Kathryn Wilkerson and freshman Dana Powell garnered All-Tournament accolades. Read more.
