U.S. News & World Report Ranks the SMU Cox MBA Programs Among the Nation's Best
Working Professionals and Full-Time Programs All Receive High Marks

SMU Cox School of BusinessDallas (SMU) — U.S. News & World Report released today (March 27, 2008) its annual ranking of the nation’s top graduate programs. SMU Cox is pleased to announce its Professional MBA program (PMBA) moved up three slots from last year to #9 – the highest ranked program in Texas.

The Cox Executive MBA program (EMBA) ranked #15. And the Cox full-time MBA ranked #44 – tied with Vanderbilt, and the school that moved up on the list more than any other ranked.

"While these rankings support the overall quality of our programs for full-time students and working professionals, we continue to remain focused on academic excellence," said Albert W. Niemi, Jr., dean of the Cox School of Business. "Year after year the bar continues to rise in terms of the quality of a Cox education, and we will stay true to the school’s mission by continuing our emphasis on the overall excellence of the program and providing an outstanding experience for our students.”

U.S. News conducts its rankings for working professionals through a survey of business school deans and MBA program directors. The full time program is calculated through weighted categories including quality assessment, placement success and student selectivity. Additional information on methodology can be found at

Consistently Ranked Among the Best

The U.S. News rankings come on the heels of a fall BusinessWeek release that named the Cox EMBA program #11 worldwide, with students raving about talented faculty, experienced students, cohort system similar to full-time program, and new learning facility. The PMBA program was ranked #13. In addition to its graduate programs, the Cox School prides itself on its prestigious undergraduate BBA program, which was ranked #23 in the nation by BusinessWeek earlier this spring. Cox ranked #4 for highest SAT scores, #2 for ACT, #7 for student satisfaction, #15 for academic quality (the highest in Texas), #19 for sending the most undergraduates to top MBA programs, and #22 for return on investment.
