SMU to celebrate 92nd Commencement
Southern Methodist University will observe its 92nd commencement weekend
Friday and Saturday (May 18-19, 2007) with traditions and ceremonies as the
University pays special tribute to the more than 1,950 graduates who will receive
diplomas and offers special recognition to three honorary degree recipients. The
weekend events include:

The Honorary Degree Symposia.
Business executive and civic leader William T. Solomon will be featured at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Georges Auditorium of the Trammell Crow Building. Author and professor
Marsh Terry will be featured at 2 p.m. Friday in DeGolyer Library.
Both are honorary degree recipients. (More

- Baccalaureate, a religious service with
a special sermon for the graduation candidates and their guests, will be at 8
p.m. Friday in McFarlin Auditorium.
- Rotunda Recessional, which welcomes graduates into their new life as alumni,
will follow the baccalaureate service.
- The All-University Commencement Convocation will begin at
9:30 a.m. Saturday in Moody Coliseum. Distinguished television
journalist and commentator Bill Moyers will
give the address. Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees
will be conferred upon Moyers, Solomon and Terry. (Read

- Individual schools and departments will present diplomas in separate
ceremonies Saturday afternoon and evening. (Check out the schedule.)
