"MUSIC IN THE MEADOWS" SERIES OFFERS FREE MONTHLY CONCERTS AT MEADOWS MUSEUM BEGINNING SEPT. 22

DALLAS (SMU) -- The "Music in the Meadows" series, which features monthly concerts in the fall and spring at the Meadows Museum, opens its 2002-2003 season with "Emily Dickinson in Song" at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22. Mezzo-soprano Virginia Dupuy, soprano Joan Heller and pianist Tara Emerson, all faculty members of SMU's Meadows School of the Arts, will perform Ms. Dupuy's highly acclaimed survey of songs by American composers set to the poetry of Emily Dickinson.

Additional fall concerts in the series, to be held at 3 p.m. in the museum's Bob and Jean Smith Auditorium, include "Piano Artistry at SMU" on Oct. 20; "New Music From SMU" on Nov. 17; and "An Afternoon of Operatic Scenes" on Dec. 15.

The "Music in the Meadows" series features performances by the outstanding music faculty and students of SMU's Meadows School of the Arts in an informal setting that encourages audience interaction. All concerts are free and open to the public.
