QUOTES ABOUT THE MEADOWS COLLECTION AND ALGUR H. MEADOWS

In May 2000, for the first time in its 34-year history, the Meadows Museum shipped key pieces from its premier permanent collection of Spanish art back to Spain. The 27 notable works traveled from Dallas across the Atlantic to their homeland for special exhibits in two of Spain's most renowned museums; Madrid's Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza from May 10 to August 27, 2000 and Barcelona's National Museum of Catalan Art from September 5 to November 5, 2000. Both exhibits were made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship from Fundación Caja Madrid. While in Spain, the Spanish press praised the collection.

This is the most important collection of Spanish art in the United States.
