SMU LAW SCHOOL STUDENTS HOST WOMENS BUSINESS SUIT DRIVE
DALLAS (SMU) Southern Methodist University School of Law students are collecting womens
used business suits to donate to women re-entering the workforce. Women In Law, an organization of SMU
women law school students, will donate the womens business suits to Attitudes and Attire, a nonprofit
organization that promotes personal growth for economically disadvantaged women by building self-esteem,
work ethics and confidence in the workplace.
"As women law school students at a private university, we realize we may be blessed materially
with more than others, and we want to give back to the community to help other women," said Catherine
Paulson, president of Women in Law. "We recognize it is very difficult, especially for women who
have been battered or have never held professional jobs, to get quality employment without the wardrobe
essential of a good business suit."
Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 11 through April 13 in the lower level lobby
of the Underwood Law Library, 6550 Hillcrest Ave. Acceptable items for donation include interview-quality
womens business suits and separates, on hangers, cleaned and pressed. Accessories, such as jewelry,
belts, scarves and handbags are also welcomed. In addition, clothing for women and children will also
be collected and donated to local womens shelters.
For more information, contact Catherine Paulson at (972) 497-5425 or Leslie Woodworth at (214) 768-3904.
