SMU Hosts Bookbinding Competition and Exhibit

Bridwell Library in SMU’s Perkins School of Theology will host the Fourth Helen Warren DeGolyer Triennial Exhibition and Award for American Bookbinding June 1-3.

The event is in association with the 2006 DeGolyer Conference. The exhibition is drawn from a competition to design a binding for a book in Bridwell’s Special Collections and consists of both completed example bindings and the proposed designs from competition entries.

This year’s book is Jorge Luis Borges’s Ficciones, printed in a limited edition of 42 at the Argentine fine press Ediciones Dos Amigos.

The exhibition is free and open to the public from June 2- July 21. For more information call 214-768-2481.
