February 2, 2006 LIBRARY’S
EXHIBITION GEARS UP For the first time, SMU’s Bridwell Library will devote an exhibition to highlights from its collection of master bookbindings. The exhibition will focus on the rich history of decorative binding styles, from the elaborately stamped leather and gold-tooled bindings of the Renaissance to the innovative, colorful and textually responsive design bindings of the late twentieth century. The event serves as a historical overture to Bridwell’s upcoming Helen Warren DeGolyer American Bookbinding Competition and its related conference and exhibition in June. The bookbinding exhibition is free and open to the public Feb. 10-April 26 in the Elizabeth Perkins Prothro Galleries at Bridwell Library, 6005 Bishop Blvd., on the SMU campus. For more information call 214-768-3483. ### SMU
