DEDMAN SCHOOL OF LAW NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS
DALLAS (SMU) — Virginia Keehan has been named assistant dean and
director of admissions for SMU’s Dedman School of Law. The position
is effective immediately.
For the past year, Keehan has served as the acting admissions director.
During that time she played an important role in helping the school to
recruit its first class of evening students in more than 30 years. This
fall approximately 90 students will enter the Dedman School of Law’s
Evening Program.
As admissions director, Keehan is responsible for supervising and implementing
a highly competitive admissions process for the law school’s day,
evening and master’s of law degree programs. In addition, she organizes
all recruitment and outreach activities and administers scholarship applications
and awards.
A graduate of the Dedman School of Law, Keehan was a Hatton W. Sumners
Scholar, a member of the Order of the Coif and the Barristers, and articles
editor for the International Law Review. After graduation, she practiced
law in the Dallas office of Thompson & Knight.
