DALLAS (SMU) -- SMU's Perkins School of Theology will host an information session in San Antonio for people interested in pursuing careers in ministry.

"Inside Perkins," a free information session and dinner, will begin at 5:45 p.m. Monday, April 22, at the Perkins School of Theology's new extension campus at the University United Methodist Church, 5084 DeZavala Road, in San Antonio.

The start of the San Antonio area program, "Perkins Southwest," was announced in October 2001 at a meeting with members of the San Antonio Area of The United Methodist Church, which includes its Southwest Texas and Rio Grande Annual (Regional) Conferences. The program will begin offering courses toward the Master of Divinity and Master of Church Ministries degrees in August 2002.

Representatives from admissions, financial aid and community life will be available to discuss the process of seeking theological education and preparation for ministry. Dean Robin W. Lovin, faculty, technology personnel and current students also will be there to answer questions about cost, technology, spiritual formation and class schedules.

For reservations to attend "Inside Perkins," call 1-888-THEOLOGY, ext. 2, or send an e-mail to Tracy Anne Allred at before April 15.
