DALLAS (SMU) -- Kourtney Rae Ridgway of Pasadena, a senior at Southern Methodist University, has been named a recipient of the 2001 UPS Foundation Scholarship. Ridgway, who is majoring in marketing, is one of more than 665 UPS Scholars at private colleges and universities across the nation. She will be awarded $3,500.

The UPS Foundation, part of United Parcel Service, established its Educational Endowment Fund in 1974 in partnership with the Foundation for Independent Higher Education (FIHE). FIHE administers the program in cooperation with its Texas partner, the Texas Independent College Fund. Since establishment of the endowment, more than $30 million in scholarships has been awarded, including $2.3 million this year.

SMU is a private, comprehensive university located in Dallas. It has an enrollment of about 10,000 students and a full-time faculty of more than 500. SMU offers undergraduate degree programs in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, Meadows School of the Arts, Edwin L. Cox School of Business and the School of Engineering. Graduate and professional programs are offered in these schools and in Perkins School of Theology and Dedman School of Law.
