MEADOWS SCHOOL OF THE ARTS AT SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1965 through the generosity of Algur H. Meadows and The Meadows Foundation, SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts has achieved prominence nationally. Faculty members at Meadows are world-class performers, authors, and communications experts who are highly accessible to students and who possess a collective focus on the complete student experience.

Meadows prepares students for professional careers by offering courses in performing arts, including music, theatre, and dance; and visual arts, including art and art history. A major priority of Meadows is preparing future leaders in the fields of communications through the study of advertising -- its largest division -- as well as journalism, cinema-television, arts administration and corporate communications. Communications students benefit directly from SMU’s ties to Dallas, a top 10 media market, headquarters to more than 5,000 corporations, and home to 140,000 businesses.

The Meadows School also serves as a significant cultural resource for the community through the new Meadows Museum and by presenting more than 400 annual events.
