PERKINS SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY TO OFFER YOUTH SEMINAR SEPT. 8

DALLAS (SMU) -- Registration is under way for Perkins School of Theology's Volunteers In Youth Ministry seminar, "Finding Your Own Balance," on September 8 at Southern Methodist University. Cost of the all-day seminar is $60 per person, or $50 for two or more from the same church.

The seminar is designed to equip volunteer youth workers, Sunday School teachers and small group leaders to minister to youth in the church and in the community. Participants can chose three of 25 sessions to attend. Topics include:

  • Talk Confidently about Tough Topics
  • Faith Development of Teenagers
  • Helping Youth Deal with Life in the Real World
  • Rowdy Recreation
  • Dealing with Difficult Youth
  • Helping Teens Welcome their God-given Sexuality
  • Honoring Teen Types: Understanding the Uniqueness of Your Youth
  • Managing Conflict While Working with Youth

Seminar presenters include the Rev. Brian Hardesty, the Rev. Rebecca Frank, the Rev. Edlen Cowley and psychiatrist Dr. Paula Dobbs-Wiggins, as well as others who are experienced volunteers, youth professionals, and seminary faculty.
