DALLAS (SMU) -- Registration is under way for the Perkins School of Children's Ministry workshop, "Nurturing the Christian Formation of Children," which will be Saturday, August 25, at the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. The workshop is designed for adults who work with children in church, including Christian educators, Sunday School teachers, children's program leaders and pastors. The Rev. Leanne Hadley will give the keynote address on the spirituality of children. Hadley is an author, ordained United Methodist elder and founder of "First Steps Spirituality Center" in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The workshop costs $60 per person, or $50 for two or more people from the same church. The cost includes lunch. Participants will be able to attend three sessions from a wide selection of topics including:

  • Nuts and Bolts of Being a New Sunday School Teacher
  • Teacher as Spiritual Guide
  • Developing After-school and Summer Programs for Children
  • Workshop Rotation Model: A Sensory Journey Through the Bible
  • Teaching Godly Play
  • Mission and Outreach with Children
  • Helping Children Cope with Loss
  • Bible, Prayer, Listening: Helping Children Grow Spiritually
  • Sharing the Bible with Children
  • Raising Christian Kids in a Not So Christian World
  • Helping Children Lead Worship
