DALLAS (SMU) -- Southern Methodist University hosted the Second Annual Recognition Day for Faculty Authorship, Editorship and Artistic Works at a reception Wednesday, April 25, in the Fondren Library Center. The SMU Faculty Senate, Central University Libraries and the Friends of the SMU Libraries sponsored the event.

SMU Provost Ross Murfin congratulated faculty members for achievements and contributions to the university through written and creative works.

Published journal articles, books, musical scores and other works of art have been displayed on the first floor of the Fondren Library Center. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will remain intact through commencement on May 19.

"Faculty Senate welcomes the opportunity to raise the awareness of our faculty members' academic achievements in the community," said Faculty Senate President Pat Davis. "We celebrate our faculty members for their research and creative works."

Central University Librarian Gillian McCombs said the SMU faculty has historically been very supportive of the libraries. "This reception and exhibit give us way for the libraries to honor the faculty."
