DALLAS (SMU) -- The Southern Methodist University Department of English and the English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, will host a panel discussion on "Book Making: The Components of Publishing," at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29 in room 102, Dallas Hall, 3225 University Blvd. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will introduce English students to the world of publishing, discussing the various stages from manuscript to bookstore sales counter. The discussion will focus on one forthcoming title from Taylor Publishing Company, Young Eagle by Kenneth J. Winkle. The book is a biography of Abraham Lincoln. Taylor Publishing's acquisitions editor, managing editor, art director and sales director will all talk about the roles they play in bringing the book to completion. They will display edited manuscript pages, mock-ups for cover designs and layouts, and documentation of promotional campaigns. Questions from the audience will follow the panel discussion.
