DALLAS (SMU) -- Prospective seminary students have until Feb. 1 to be considered for a variety of scholarships at SMU's Perkins School of Theology. The Perkins School of Theology is offering the Charles and Elizabeth Prothro Fellowships, Prothro Promise for Ministry Scholarships and Dean's Honor Scholarships to students who plan to begin studies in fall 2001. Perkins also offers need-based Financial Aid Grants that provide a 40 percent reduction in tuition and fees.

"Perkins has an excellent financial aid program designed to give students the help they need to make a theological education possible," said Shonda Jones, director of Student Services.

Scholarships are offered to students with outstanding promise for ministry, exceptional leadership potential, effective communication skills, personal integrity and vocational goals for ministry. Applicants must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average. Applications are available via the Internet at or from the Perkins' Office of Admission and Financial Aid at (214) 768-2239 or 1-888-THEOLOGY.
