SMU STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AS WHO'S WHO AMONG STUDENTS IN AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES

DALLAS (SMU) -- 39 students from Southern Methodist University were recently recognized in the 2001 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

The students were recognized for their outstanding leadership based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

The students are:

-- Jessica Lyn Bartlett of Plano, a junior majoring in art history;

-- Adam Andrew Bronson of Fort Worth, a junior majoring in finance and minoring in economics;

-- Eric Brady Burns of Natchez, a junior majoring in marketing and minoring in mathematics;

-- Emily A. Bush of Jackson, a senior majoring in finance and minoring in european studies and French;

-- Ryan Michael Christian of Dallas, a junior majoring in general business;

-- Cassy Lynn Cook of Naples, a junior majoring in biological sciences and minoring in classcal studies;

-- Katharine Ellen Daniel of Greenwood Village, a senior majoring in music performance (voice);

-- Verime Summer Elmazi of Arlington, a senior majoring in political science and biological sciences and minoring in chemistry;

-- Gina Christine Esch of Dallas, a senior majoring in advertising;

-- Larkin R. Evans of Lee's Summit, a senior majoring in studio art;

-- Pari Magen Ghodsi of Spring, a junior majoring in psychologyand minoring in natural sciences;

-- Stormy Shureka Hayes of Cedar Hill, a junior majoring in English;

-- Bernard Maurice Jones of Oklahoma City, a senior majoring in political science;

-- Heather Dawn Jordan of Newport Beach, a senior majoring in history and minoring in journalism and Spanish;

-- Robert A. Kachmar of Fort Worth, a senior majoring in management information science and organizational behavior and business policy and minoring in international studies and theatre studies;

-- Courtney Beth Keel of Edmond, a junior majoring in mathematics;

-- Stacy Jeanne Kettelhut of Dallas, a senior majoring in public affairs and corporate communications;

-- Rebecca Sonia Laptook of Dallas, a junior majoring in Spanish and psychology and minoring in sociology;

-- Jennifer Renee Marks of Dallas, a graduate student in applied mathematics;

-- Jeff Adams Moore of Baton Rouge, a senior majoring in psychology and minoring in art history and classical studies;

-- Kathryne Martin Morris of Dallas, a senior majoring in English and medieval studies;

-- Courtney Ann Niswander of Garland, a senior majoring in real estate finance and minoring in Spanish;

-- Andrew Robert Novak of Lafayette, a senior majoring in history and minoring in general political science and theatre studies;

-- Barbara J. Panza of Richardson, a graduate student in law;

-- Elisabeth Fern Preston of Henderson, a senior majoring in history and minoring in public affairs and corporate communications;

-- Heather Alison Purse of Dallas, a sophomore majoring in Spanish;

-- Yulise Johnette Reaves of Dallas, a junior majoring in English and minoring in Spanish;

-- Christy Rodriguez of Brownsville, a junior majoring in psychology;

-- Leska Anne Scanio of Temple, a junior majoring in marketing and minoring in Spanish;

-- Melissa Anne Scarpino of Allentown, a senior majoring in psychology and minoring in natural sciences;

-- Carrie Lee Sparks of Katy, a junior majoring in theatre;

-- Nathan D. Stracner of Seagoville, a senior majoring in marketing;

-- Megan Ashley Samples of Leawood, a junior majoring in finance and minoring in Spanish;

-- Anita Marie Singh of Colleyville, a sophomore majoring in English and minoring in ethics and sociology;

-- Darryl William Stephens of Dallas, a graduate student in theology;

-- Hoang-Anh Le Tran of Arlington, a senior majoring in English with a creative writing specialization and minoring in religious studies;

-- Cynthia Alicia Villanueva of Cibolo, a December 2000 graduate of SMU with degrees in psychology and sociology;

-- Jodi Marie Warmbrod of Edmond, a junior majoring in marketing and minoring in advertising;

-- Michael Williams Waters of Houston, a junior majoring in political science and religious studies and minoring in history.

Students are chosen from over 2,300 institutions from around the country, including the District of Columbia and several foreign nations.

SMU is a private, comprehensive university located in Dallas. It has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students and a full-time faculty of more than 500. SMU offers undergraduate degree programs in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, Meadows School of the Arts, Edwin L. Cox School of Business and the School of Engineering.
