Drug use, proper etiquette, respect and teen pregnancy were among the topics discussed Saturday at a Community Teen Summit at Dallas City Hall.
Hosted by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway, the event featured speakers and skits aimed at helping teenagers address problems in their lives. . .
Georita Frierson, a professor and clinical psychologist at Southern Methodist University, encouraged the teens to speak to her privately about issues such as depression and stress.
"Getting rid of the myth that you're weak if you talk to someone is a big issue," Dr. Frierson said. "We want the kids to know that it's normal to be stressed out and there is no need to suffer unnecessarily."
