President's Leadership Summit
to Feature Dallas City Manager

Dallas City Manager Mary K. Suhm will be the featured speaker Monday at The President's Leadership Summit, an event held each semester at Southern Methodist University that gives civic and business leaders the opportunity to discuss key steps they have taken in achieving their goals.

The Nov. 12 event, which is free and open to all SMU students, faculty and staff, will be at 5 p.m. in The Forum of Hughes-Trigg Student Center.

Suhm was appointed City Manager for the City of Dallas in June 2005.  As chief executive officer for the city, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city, including implementing over a billion dollar budget and overseeing 13,000 employees. 

Before joining the City of Dallas, she was the Director of the Allen Public Library and taught high school biology for the Allen and Carrollton, Texas, Independent School Districts.  She earned Masters degrees in both Business Administration and Library Science from the University of North Texas and received her bachelor of science from Lamar University.
