Michael
Shearn graduated from SMU in 2004 with degrees in Physics,
Mathematics, and Electrical Engineering. While at SMU he was a member of the SMU Honor
Council, the club rowing team, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society,
the Eta Kappa Nu
Electrical Engineering Honor Society, and the Sigma Phi Epsilon
fraternity. A President's Scholar, Mike spent the 2002-2003 school year at
University College London through SMU study abroad. He
received the SMU School of Engineering Mark
Shepard Award for Outstanding Undergraduate in 2002. Along with
being a Goldwater Scholar, Michael was recognized as a
Department of Homeland Security Fellow and a
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, 2004. Michael currently attends the California Institute
of Technology where he is studying for his doctorate in applied physics.
Alonso
Gutierrez graduated from SMU in 2003 with degrees in Physics and Mechanical Engineering.
He received the President's Scholarship
and the Frank C. McDonald Memorial Award for Excellence in Physics. He was
also designated a Fermilab Scholar in 2002. Alonso received his masters in
Medical Physics from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and is currently on
his doctoral track.
