There are two ways to prepare for the Music Theory Graduate
Diagnostic Exam. One way is through the preliminary assessment
on SMU's Blackboard Course Management System. You will receive
full information by email on how to access this assessment. The
following self-assessments provide another means for
admitted graduate music students to prepare and review for their
theory diagnostic exam.

This web site allows students to take automated on-line tests similar to the diagnostic exam. Although this self-assessment is designed to assist in a student's preparation for graduate studies, it does not count as the actual diagnostic exam nor does it represent the entire exam.
After completing and submitting each self-assessment, you will immediately see your graded results and recommended areas for review.
