Admission Requirements: There are certain graduate admission requirements that are standard across all the programs of the Meadows School. These include application forms, academic transcripts, resumes, and recommendation letters. International students are also required to take the TOEFL test. In addition to these, each academic area has its own requirements. The full list is below.

Admission Requirements by Area

Art: Students applying for admission to the M.F.A. in Studio Art should hold a B.F.A. in Studio Art or the equivalent. They should also submit a portfolio of 20 slides of their work with their admissions application. Specific portfolio instructions are provided in the application packet.

Art History: Applicants to the M.A. in Art History should have an undergraduate degree, with a major or minor in Art History, or 12 credit hours in Art History beyond the survey level. Students must also take the GRE and submit a sample research paper for review.

Arts Administration: The ideal applicant to the M.A./M.B.A. in Arts Administration has an undergraduate degree and a background, professional and/or personal, in the arts. Students must also take the GMAT.

Cinema-Television: Applicants to the M.A. in Television/Radio whose undergraduate degree is not in Television/Radio must complete two prerequisite courses: Survey of Television & Media and Basic Production. They must also take the GRE.

Dance: Applicants to the M.F.A. in Choreographic Theory and Practice must include an essay on a topic agreed upon by the applicant and graduate faculty. They will also take part in an interview, and by faculty request, an audition.

Music: All applicants to the M.M. or the M.M.T. must hold a B.M. or the equivalent. Additional requirements depend upon the area of study:

Theatre: Graduate applicants in Theatre also must fulfill different requirements depending on areas of study. Acting students must complete an interview and audition. Read more. Theatre Design students must be interviewed by members of the faculty and should present a portfolio at that interview.
