Applications are invited for the Clements Chair of Mathematics to begin in the fall semester of 2009. Preference will be given to senior scholars with outstanding records of research who also have a strong commitment to teaching including an established history of advising Ph.D. theses. Applicants in all areas of applied and computational mathematics are encouraged. The Department of Mathematics, which offers an active doctoral program in applied and computational mathematics, is in an exciting period of transition having hired four faculty last year. The Department of Mathematics at SMU will be hiring a Lecturer to teach courses in our pre-Calculus and Calculus sequences. The position, which is non-tenure-track but renewable in one-year contracts, begins August 2009.

Our pre-Calculus courses include Business and Regular pre-Calculus and a Finite Mathematics course. The Finite Mathematics course is based on material from For All Practical Purposes and includes topics on Probability, Game Theory, Finance and Voting. The Calculus courses are Business Calculus, Calculus 1 and Calculus 2. The teaching load is 4/2. Some experience in teaching these courses is critical. Applicants should possess at least a M.S. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.
