Stability of Rotating Patterns

Dr. Jens Lorenz
Department of Mathematics and Statistics
University of New Mexico

Two dimensional rotating patterns occur as solutions of parabolic systems of PDEs. An example is given by the cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equations with spinning solitons as solutions. In this lecture, I will show results of numerical computations, formulate a stability theorem for the patterns, and sketch its proof.
