Computing Facilities

The Center for Scientific Computing provides the main resource for scientific computing collaboration at Southern Methodist University. Members of the CSC have access to the large-scale SMU computing cluster. This cluster currently has 25 compute nodes, each with 8 compute cores and 48 GB of memory, enabling MPI-based parallel computing using up to 200 computational cores. In addition, two high-memory nodes, each with 144 GB of memory, 8 compute cores, and an NVIDIA GTX 295 card, may be used for data analysis, visualization and GPU computing. All components of this cluster are attached to a high-reliability 40 TB disk array for storage of large data sets.

For information on obtaining a user account on the SMU computing cluster, see this page.
