Write On Competition Message Board

  • You MUST type the Bluebook Exercise and the Writing Exercise, you may NOT complete either of those sections by hand. However, you MUST complete the Editing Exercise by hand (per the instructions for the Editing Exercise).

  • For those of you completing the “Declaration of Interest Form” electronically, the radio button will not allow you to select “Yes” to be considered for both ILRA and STLR should you get an offer to another journal. Therefore, just place an “X” in the blank to the left of every journal for which you would like to be considered, and disregard the radio buttons.

  • If you are using a Mac, to insert a footnote go to the “insert” menu at the top of the screen, and click “footnote.” In the pop-up box, make sure “Footnote” and “AutoNumber” are selected, and click “OK.”

  • When turning in your problem packet, you need not include the “2010 Law Review Write-On Competition Problem Packet” cover sheet for the separate “2010 Article Excerpts” document.

  • Some citation information for the Writing Source "PEREZ V. WYETH LABORATORIES INCORPORATED" was inadvertently omitted and is as follows: 161 NJ 1, 724 A2d 1245, Prod.Liab.Rep. (CCH) P 15,809

  • For the Writing Source "STATE EX. REL. JOHNSON & JOHNSON CORPORATION V. KARL," use the "637 S.E.2d 899" citation information rather than the "647 S.E.2d 899" citation information.

  • When downloading and printing the 2010 Article Excerpts PDF document from a Mac, the part of the citation that is in bold has been showing up in a funky font (looks something like Arial).  As such, I would recommend to Mac users to either print their Article Excerpts from a PC so that the bold shows up, or just treat the funky font as bold and make edits accordingly.
