Grants 2009
The Friends of the SMU Libraries Grants Committee met on April 28, 2009 to review grant proposals submitted by the libraries. The committee was chaired by Judy McMillin and included Joanne Pratt and Donna Wellington. Amy Carver was ex-officio. The following grants were approved by the committee:
$21,000 to Central University Libraries to fund the one-time archival fee for JSTOR’s Arts & Sciences Collections (volumes IV, V, VI and VII).
$9,920 to the Business Information Center to purchase the Economics, Econometrics and Finance backfiles collection from the Social Sciences and Humanities section of the ScienceDirect database.
$3,750 to Bridwell Library for special collections materials in the fields of theology, religion, church history, scripture, liturgy, devotionals, Wesleyana and Methodism.
$2,500 to the Hamon Arts Library for partial funding of the new complete works edition of Claudio Monteverdi.
$2,500 to CUL Development to use as a challenge grant for the Fall 2009 CUL Telephony telemarketing campaign.
$1,716 to the Hamon Arts Library for three volumes of the Hollstein or New Hollstein series of print catalogs.
$1,000 to the DeGolyer Library to add to the Colophon Collection of modern American literature.
$1,000 to the DeGolyer Library Prints & Photographs Dept. for the purchase of photographs from the Civil War.
$1,000 to the Jerry Bywaters Special Collections of the Hamon Arts Library for the conservation of 25-30 works of art on paper by noted Texas regionalist artist Merritt Mauzey.
$600 to Bridwell Library for the Encyclopedia of Psychology and Religion.
$500 to the DeGolyer Library for partial production costs of the 2009 issue of the Horton Foote Review.
$500 to the DeGolyer Library, the Friends of the SMU Libraries and the CUL Exhibits Committee for development of an on-line exhibition of the Colophon Moderns Collection.
Amount of grants: $45,986
Grants approved for yearly distribution:
$3,000 to CUL to assist in funding the production of the CUL annual report publication.
$2,000 to support two Library School Scholarship Awards. This year’s scholarship recipients are Emily Grubbs and Dawn Youngblood.
$500 to the SMU Libraries to support the Effective Use of Information Technology Staff Award
$500 to the SMU Libraries to support the Employee of the Year Staff Award
