Margaret Keliher

Judge
Margaret Keliher is the Executive Director for
Texas Business for Clean Air. Prior to that
position she was Of Counsel with the Public Law
section of Locke, Liddell & Sapp, one of Texas’
leading law firms. In 2002 Judge Keliher was
first appointed to and later elected as the
Dallas County Judge becoming the first female
elected to that position in the county’s
history. She also served as Judge of the 44th
District Court of Dallas where she was ranked as
one of the hardest working Civil District Court
Judges by the Dallas Bar Association. She came
to the bench from Jones Day Reavis and Pogue
where she handled commercial and business
litigation. Before joining the firm, Judge
Keliher served as a member of the Dallas County
District Attorney's office as a felony
prosecutor. Prior to her legal career Judge
Keliher was a Certified Public Accountant with
Deloitte. She received her Juris Doctorate,
cum laude, from Southern Methodist
University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in accounting from the University
of Virginia. Judge Keliher is active in
community associations and serves on the board
of Dallas Children’s Theater Guild, the YMCA,
the YWCA, SMU Law School, and Turtle Creek
Manor. An active involved mother of three, she
is married to Lester Keliher and is mother to
Margaret, Joseph, and Alex.
