Numerous SMU faculty members are receiving patents for their inventions and discoveries. Among them is Engineering Professor Choon Sae Lee, who has developed a new form of antenna.

The 78th Texas State Legislature recognized a group of SMU students recently with HCR 157, a resolution honoring the campus Leadership Consultant Council. LCC members, student body officers, and other campus leaders met April 11th in Austin with Governor Rick Perry, Attorney General Greg Abbott, State Representative Dan Branch (J.D. '83), and Texas Supreme Court Justice Wallace Jefferson. In commending the students the resolution states: "Recognized as one of the best student leadership development organizations in the nation, the LCC strives to foster excellence in leadership among SMU students....Among the important initiatives offered by LCC are the Crain Leadership Conference, the Emerging Leaders Program, and the John Ben Shepperd High School Leadership Forum.
