Carol L. Clyde, Ed.D. Director Adaptability-Activator-Ideation Significance-Communication |
Dr. Carol L. Clyde joined Southern Methodist University as the Director of Leadership and Community Involvement
in 2003. Carol
brings with her an excellent educational background and applicable work
experience. She was previously the Director of Internships and an
Assistant Professor at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. Carol
also served as an instructor for their First Year Experience course for
freshmen students. Prior to joining Lynn University, Carol was employed as the Director of the Weppner Volunteer Center at Florida Atlantic University and the AmeriCorps*VCCC Community Service Coordinator at Virginia Wesleyan College. She has a Master of Education degree in Educational Policy Planning and Leadership from The College of William and Mary and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration from Florida Atlantic University. Her dissertation topic was Influences of an Experiential Learning Program for Holocaust Education. Carol is a Facilitator for the Key Leader program with Kiwanis International and teaches a variety of leadership courses for undergraduate students through the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development.

A proud SMU alumna, Stella L. Mulberry returned to the Hilltop as the Assistant Director of Leadership and Community Involvement in 2006. Stella’s professional experiences are broad and varied, having worked in the areas of new student orientation, student activities, fraternity and sorority affairs, and leadership development. Most recently before returning to SMU, Stella was the Assistant Director of the Student Union at The University of Texas at Dallas, where she oversaw the advisement of over 150 student organizations, as well as the areas of event management, campus programming, and Greek life. Stella is also a life member of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity and serves in numerous alumni volunteer roles on the local, regional, and national levels. Stella has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from SMU and a Master of Education degree in counseling and student services from the University of North Texas. She is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in higher education at the University of North Texas. Her dissertation topic is Influences on College Students’ Formation of Political Identity.

Antron received his
M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from The University of
North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). He also holds a B.S. from
Bethune-Cookman College in Business Education. Prior to joining
SMU, Antron worked in the Office of Leadership and Service-Learning
at UNCG serving as graduate assistant for community outreach. While
in this position, Antron helped to build community partnerships with
nonprofits and government agencies and linked students with
volunteer sites and opportunities for civic engagement. Some of his
professional interests include service-learning, leadership
development, social justice, and assessment and evaluation. Antron
is originally from Bishopville, South Carolina.

Joe holds a B.A. in Psychology from Hofstra University in New York, where he was a student leader, in addition to a Professional Certificate in Human Resource Management from The University of Massachusetts at Boston. He comes to LCI with a wealth of experiences, having been a fidelity bond underwriter on Wall Street, a guest services representative with a major hotel chain, and most recently as a drug and alcohol analysis technician for a local counseling agency providing services for clients in the custody of the U.S. Probation Office. Joe has been actively serving his communities on both coasts since high school. In his travels he has had the honor of meeting Jimmy & Roslyn Carter, Al Gore, Henry Kissinger and Nobel Peace Prize Recipient Desmond Tutu. He’s excited about the VISTA position and the opportunity to promote service-learning at SMU. Oh, we forgot to mention… he misses his native Boston and the Red Sox; however, he is proud to be a newly adopted Mustang!

2008 marks Sherry’s 20th year at SMU. From 1987 to 2004 she worked in the SMU Women’s Center. Then in 2004, she moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, to establish a Children’s Art Center and returned in September 2005 to join the staff of Leadership & Community Involvement where she enjoys her duties as Administrative Assistant and resident grandmother. Wife of 42 years, mother of three, grandmother of three, and professional artist of 30 years, Sherry enjoys photography, traveling, and treasure hunting. She is looking forward to her next 20 years at SMU.
