The Autism Treatment Centers, Inc.
were established in Dallas, Texas in June of 1976 to provide services
for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.
In 1978, the Center opened a second program in San Antonio.
In 1992, the Dallas program expanded services to include individuals
who are deaf-blind, multi-handicapped, known as D-B Support Services.
The Centers offer an array of services allowing for choices in
living options, educational plans, and vocational opportunities.
All services are delivered within the community and are focused
on integration and maximizing independence.
Each person entering the program follows an individualized,
comprehensive learning program. A team consisting of administrators,
teachers, parents/guardians, various specialists, and the individual
receiving the services designs these programs. This holistic
approach enhances the opportunity for consistency in teaching
strategies and achievement to include one or all of these components:
educational, vocational, and/or residential. In each of these
areas, services are delivered year around in small group settings
maintaining a structured environment with on-going assessments,
enhanced with parent training. |

Central Dallas Ministries began
as a small food pantry in 1988 and has been positively impacting
lives ever since. At Central Dallas Ministries we serve out of
a deep faith in God and a strong belief in the ability of people
to transform their own lives. We provide basic services, like
food, healthcare, and legal representation, as well as education,
mentoring, pre-employment training, and spiritual growth opportunities.
Our goal is to assist people in taking control of their lives,
and to challenge individuals to impact communities for the better.
Community Health Services is the health arm of our organization.
We have several clinics, where we care for the medically underserved.
These individuals confront both medical and non-medical barriers
that prevent them from getting healthy. We offer low-cost
care, helping people manage chronic illness, providing preventative
services, responding to their acute needs, and assisting them
in accessing services at other agencies. |

The mission of the Dallas Museum
of Natural History is to further an understanding and appreciation
of the natural world through collection-based research, education
and exhibition programs; to further in particular an understanding
of the biological diversity and natural history of Texas; and
to preserve the collections for the enlightenment and enjoyment
of future generations.
The Dallas Museum of Natural History is the only collections-based,
research-driven public natural history museum in the region. With
working archaeologists and paleontologists on staff, the museum
not only repackages and interprets scientific knowledge but actively
expands its frontiers.
Since its founding in 1936, the Museum has played a significant
role in documenting, describing and showcasing Texas' vast natural
diversity. The current collection of over 280,000 specimens includes
the world's largest exhibition of Texas wildlife habitats, and
the first mounted Texas dinosaur in Texas.
Through its educational and research programs, the Museum has
attracted a dedicated core of the Dallas community's naturalists,
geologists, paleontologists and anthropologists, as well as 1,800
Museum members. Annually the Museum receives hundreds of thousands
of visitors, including some 40,000 schoolchildren participating
in the Museum's formal educational programs. |

Interfaith Housing Coalition is
a Section 501 (c)(3) provider of three-month transitional housing,
combined with educational and accountable programming in employment,
budgeting, parenting, and living skills for Dallas area homeless
families. Utilizing a holistic approach to attack the root
causes of homelessness, Interfaith Housing Coalition empowers
its residents to obtain full-time, permanent employment, rebuild
their lives and family's, and sustain long term self-sufficiency.
Objectives
Interfaith's overall program centers on (1) rebuilding self-esteem
while (2) holding one accountable to self- designed goals.
Underlying structures of employment, budgeting, parenting, and
living skills reinforce this developing self-image as families
are encouraged and guided to meet objectives in their areas of
specialized need. It is an approach that works: Interfaith
residents exit the program with confidence, housing, savings,
and practical skills. Since Interfaith's inception, 70%
of the Interfaith residents have successfully completed the program.
All Interfaith's graduates obtain employment. Approximately two
out of three Interfaith graduates are able to sustain long term
self-sufficiency. |
