Institutional Research

John Kalb is the Director of the Office of Institutional Research. The office provides information to internal and external constituencies in support of its mission to provide accurate, timely, and useful information. The office collects and analyzes data about the university to enhance the quality of the decision-making process for those leading the institution. A major portion of effort is dedicated to federal reporting and state reporting through the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas (ICUT) as well as providing university information to guidebooks and other providers of university information. The Institutional Research office coordinates the Institutional Effectiveness reporting for the university and serves as the primary contact for the Colonial Group Data Exchanges. We (John, Michael, Robin) will try to provide the requested information about the university if at all possible. WEAVEonline is a system for managing Institutional Effectiveness reporting. This the system used to enter information for the annual Institutional Effectiveness reports. To access WEAVEonline click on the button above. You must have your SMU log-on ID and password to use the WEAVE system. For more details, see the Weave Resources page via this link.

NOTE: If you bookmark WEAVEonline, be sure you bookmark the log-in page, and not a page after you have logged in to the system. Your log-in screen must say "Welcome, Southern Methodist University WEAVEonline user. Please login..." or you will not be able to log in to the WEAVEonline system.

Digital Measures is the faculty activity reporting tool for Southern Methodist University. Click on the logo above to go to the log-in screen. This is a secure portal access using the same log-on as your access.smu account. This log-in screen asks for your SMU ID, not your email address. If you are asked for your email, you're in the wrong screen. Please change the path to this one if you saved the old one.

For those who would like to see screen shots of the basic entry screens, click <here>. This will not contain any specialized updates that have been made by our schools/colleges but are the basics of what is expected in the system screen by screen.

If you would like to request updates to the DM screens, please use <this form> and send it to the system administrator. That way, he won't forget your request if it is in writing.
